  • Jasmain - Please take a look

    My fitday journal link is at the end of all of my posts in my signature, could someone please, pretty please take a look at my first few days and see if I'm doing anything else wrong besides my caffeine intake. I have always had a lot of caffeine during the day, and I'm waiting until I weigh in Monday (end of my first week) to decide if I need to cut back on it. I was on Atkins quite a while ago (long story, surgery, depressed) and was on maintenance for about 9 months before life type things just got to be too much. Caffeine never seemed to interfere with losing weight very quickly. I am drinking a lot of water (at least 100 oz per day) and taking a low carb friendly multivitamin.

    Looks good on the whole, Jasmain.
    I noticed 'cheese food' and suggest you check the ingredients on that as we should only be eating 'real' cheese.
    Also I read here that pre-shredded/grated cheese packs often have starch added to keep the shreds from sticking together, so it is better to shred your own from block cheese.
    You were a little light on veggies some days and yesterday had only lettuce as your 3 cups, which as Moochiecat says is really only 'chewy water' with little in the way of nutrients.
    I wont comment on the coffee except to say make sure you are not going over your cream 'allowance'

      yep the cheese food jumped out at me too processed American cheese is allowed but not Processed American cheese food.

      Also we are supposed to have at least 1/2 of our carb total fro the day from our veggies so you need to either eat better veggies then lettuce or you need to cut back your coffee carbs and other nonveggie carbs.

      You can tell fitday to tract your fiber in the goals section and you can set any number as your min and max I used 1 and 2 as mine just to get it should them below the total carbs so I couls subtract them.


      Caffeine is an insulin stimulant and insulin is a fat storage hormone so do you really want your dietary and body storage fats shut off from burning until that insulin suger is gone and your back to buring fats again cause even when you low carb the body can make sugar for the insulin to burn from glucogenesis.

        Thank you both! I've bought some block cheeses so I can cut out the american cheese slices, that was something, when I did my shopping for the first week, I hadn't considered. Got my real cheese now! I'm totally addicted to the caffeine during the day, I need to cut it out totally, cause now that i'm not stuffing the carbs in my face, I'm getting that caffeine skin crawly feeling. Monday I will have to just brace myself for the smell of it at work and buckle down. Not to mention making sure I have something for the headaches that cutting down on the caffeine is going to cause. I'm hoping once I fix the coffee and cheese problems, my diet will look better. Along with making sure I start eating more veggies and less lettuce. Okay, exercise too... dang it, I have some work to do on getting this thing down again! I appreciate your input GREATLY, thank you for the help! *HUGS*

          Some people here managed to wean themselves off caffeine by gradually mixing it with decaffeinated.

          Starting off at 3/4 caffeine with 1/4 decaff, then 1/2 to 1/2, 1/4 to 3/4 then all decaff they reported little problem after switching fully.

          Maybe that would work with you? Try a week at a time and in a month you would be free!!

            Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm using half caff coffee, so I'm already down to half the caffeine! They don't have half caff in fitday, and I put the coffee into a canister before I started and threw away the bag it was in. Is decaf okay to drink?

              decafe and regular have the same carbs. Congr4ats on getting ti to 1/2. remember you can take any over the counter pain med for the headache that you normally use if it is cafeine free.

                I'm going to try, since i'm on the haff caff at home, to now start lowering the amount i drink (number of mugs) I think i'm averaging about 6 a day, so I'm going to try to start each week, lowering it by one til it's gone from my diet, sort of like weaning myself off. Monday I'll be doing 5 at the most, will take a few weeks, but will be worth it I know. Other than the coffee I don't get any caffeine, luckily, even when I do occassionally have a diet soda, i make sure it's caffeine free. I do have one question... if we do atkins by the book, and the book says EITHER 3 cups of lettuce or 2 cups of lettuce and 1 cup veggies... why is it bad for me to get my veggie carbs from lettuce, since it's obviously part of the plan? I know someone quoted something another member about it being mostly water and stuff, but I'd rather trust the book than someone's opinion.

                  it doesn't say lettuce it says 3 cups salad veggies or 2 cups salad and one cup of other acceptable veggies. Check out the Induction stickies and you will see there are many mnay choices on the salad list that are not lettuce.

                  It also says the majority of your carbs must come from your veggies so if you only eat 3 cups og iceberg lettuce you get very little carbs to have for other things. Like yesterday you had 3 carbs of lettuce so you could only have 2.999999 carbs of other stuff. Technically you cheated yesterday.

                  You want to choose a good variety of veggies cause it will help you get the micronutrients we all need for things on the cellular level.

                    Well you have just cleared up something for me then! Thank you! Um.. I'm not sure when someone will see the other post I made, can someone tell me how you can see info on your rep power, or if you can at all? I still feel great today, regardless, cause I'm trying hard! Sending out big mental hugs to Deb since she's feeling down, and I'm really hoping she feels better.

                      LOL if you click on the word User CU in the blue bar near the top left of this page it will take you to yours. PMs will be listed first then topics you are subscribed to and finally at the bottom it will say

                      User reputation in a blue bar. if it has boxes below it they tell you what topic and who said what. if it is just a blue bar click on the far right side and it will open.

                              I know this is off the topic of the original thread, but I don't know where else would be the best place to ask.

                              In my CP I see PM, then Subscribed, then Misc. on the left hand side - no reputations. In the middle of the page it shows reputations and says that I have 20 points, but I only see one person and one thread. How do I see the rest, or does one rep count for 20 points?
