Hi all, new to Atkins and this group.

So far, almost a week of induction down and have lost a few lbs., from 269lbs down to 260.

I am concerned a little about the caloric intake. (still reading the book)

    fitday.com came up with figures.

Please advise if Im doing this right...

    Calories Eaten Today
    Total: 2157
    Fat:148 1329 63%
    Carbs:13 48 2%
    Fiber:1 0 0%
    Protein:186 743 35%

Thank you in advance for any input.

We have spent out whole lives worried about cals. Dont for the next 2 weeks. Eat according to DANDR when you are hungry. Stop when you have had enought. Follow the rules and you will loose.

      Re: newbie concerned

Thank you for the prompt reply. Im just concerned Im eating too much as far as calories.
Im staying true to the 65/30/5 (or close to it) and its working great. I guess my question is, does caloric intake play a role at this stage of the program ?

it will just as soon as your appetite suppression kicks in from doing Atkins correctly.

once you are not hungry you will see that eating only enough food to satisfy your hunger even if you got room in your belly food on the plate or carbs in your budget and stopping will lower your caloric intake too.

Atkins is caloric control through carb control. use your tools DrAtkins knows you will have in the stages to lay a great foundation and build your house of Atkins strong.

        Happy low carbing.

so what should the caloric intake be for the induction phase?

with a few adjustments, (one less tbsp mayo and switching my world famous wings to chicken breast, I save about 300 calories)

Should I shoot for low calorie low carb ? Seems a little hard to do with the fat intake at 65% at this point...

am I missing the point ? any suggestions ?

we don't pick an abitrary number.

our bodies will tell us how much to eat. some days it will be a little others more. learn to recognize your hunger and feed only it and stop when it is satisfied.
Once you learn that concept you will never have any trouble with following your Atkins WOE for a life time of being a healtheir smaller you.

make sure you have some protein some fat and some of your veggie carbs at each meal and as soon as that hunger is satisfied put the food on your plate way for later.

The only time we eat if we are not hungry is if it has been 6 waking hours since our last meal. Then we have a little food.

Nilo, thats the cool part of this WOE, we don't have to count caloies at this point. Maybe later when your going up the ladder but now, they just don't count.
