  • 2nd day induction menu

Do i need to count each can of diet rite as 1 carb unit? Both fitday and the can do not list any carbs for a can. Also, I'm at my 5% of carbs but my net carbs are only 12, i have my 2 cups of salade veggies and the 1 cup of other veggies in there. Should i add more veggies? or add something else? .

This is what i have put in so far at fitday

    Breakfast
    2 large eggs
    2 oz. cooked steak
    1oz. monterey cheese(No Carbs!! )
    1 medium celery stalk
    2.5 tablespoon cheese

    Lunch
    1 cup romaine lettece
    .5 cup tomatoe
    1 hardboiled egg
    1 slice bacon

    Dinner
    2 oz Tilapia
    1 cup cauliflower
    1 tbls butter(unsalted)

    Snack
    1 Mozzerella string cheese(1oz)

    Berverages
    100 oz water
    8oz decaffeinated tea
    1 sweet n low
    1 red raspberry diet rite(yum )

    And fitday concludes:
    Carbs:5%
    Fat:65%

    Re: 2nd day induction menu

Your menu looks pretty good although it is fairly low on calories. True we don't count calories in Atkins, but keep an eye on that. Generally you'll have higher days and lower days and it'll all average out just fine but if you have many days in a row under 1000 calories, it's best if you try and pump them up a bit or your body will decide you are heading for starvation and the weight loss will stop. You can go here to get an idea of the min/max calories a day range you should shoot for:

We've already discussed the soda in another forum and I told you where to go to check to see if the sweetener you are using is allowed or not.
To be on the safe side, count 1 carb for each ounce of cheese as recommended in DANDR.
Make sure to have a good variety of veggies each day to maximize their nutritional punch and to keep from getting bored. Higher carb veggies will also boost your net carb count and some folks say they feel better being closer to the 20 per day, so don't be shy to play around with that.
The carb count, just like the calorie count, will vary from day to day, and again, that's fine and it's pretty normal. Most folks range between 13 to 17 carbs per day. Again, it's ok to have a few lower days because no doubt you'll have some higher days and it'll all average out.
No need to panic about being exact. I did Atkins for about 2 weeks before I discovered Fitday and when I went back and plugged in my menus I saw that just by following the Rules of Induction and eating correctly from the Acceptable Foods list, I was almost exactly where I needed to be. That Dr. Atkins knew his stuff!!

I edited my menu a little bit, i added 2 tbls ceasar dressing, took out the diet rite and took out the butter. That brought the calorie count up to 999, but im sure everything is not exact and im getting a little more than that. Anyways, thanks moochiecat for all the advice i appreciate it. still stayed at 65/30/5 though so i guess thats good.

Remember that Atkins is a high fat diet, so unless your fat % is way out of whack, don't be shy to have butter in/on your foods.
Good job on ditching the diet rite though!
