  • Attention Atkins Experts. . .HELP!!!

    Hey, I am hoping for some help here, my fitday account is public and in my siggy. . .I just can't seem to get enough carbs. Is it because I haven't been eating eggs? Are my carb levels too low? How do I get eggs in my diet with a 3 year old and 8 month old at home? No time to scramble them for breakfast and besides deviled or boiled, that's all I like. . .This is day...hmm...18 I think, but I did crappy the first two weeks, and still lost! Now, I am in a cheat free challenge and back to being a good girl, but what am I missing???!??!!!!

    Okay, I still don't see a problem because your carbs are low, and this is a low carb diet afterall ?

    What about having a cup of veggies on the non salad list - like one cup of brocoli. Cheese also has carbs in it.

    I saw you had one slice of tomato - that's not much - have more, have the whole tomato!

    Eggs are not compulsory. You say you don't have time to scramble eggs ? it takes me less than a minute to crack some in a bowl and mix it up.

    Actually that's the quickest protein snack I know how to make!

      I see only 2 entries in your Fitday. Assuming you eat the same thing most of the time, it looks like you are skimping on your veggies!!!! One day had 2 cups the other had 3 lettuce leaves. We should always make sure to get 3 cups of veggies. Also, if you drink coffee or diet sodas make sure you count those. Every 6 or 8 oz of black coffee or tea has 1g carb and every can of diet soda should be counted as 1 gram. Make sure you are keeping track of any cream or sweeteners if you use any. However, as it stands - you need more veggies!!!!!!

        Thanks guys, already, you're helping. You're right, more veggies. . .got it. I'm just so afraid to eat to many and sabotage myself. This IS only the second day on fitday, as you pointed out. All I drink is water, so that's no problem. I just wandered if you could eat too few carbs. ..

          LC Dave, good points. Like I said I am just so afraid to eat too many carbs! I can have a tomato? I need to make a copy of that list in the book. Yes, scrambling is not hard, I just need to cut out 5 minutes of precious sleep. Or I guess I could boil some and keep em in the fridge. I HAVE to know if I can have bologna. I guess I'm a pretty simple girl, cause I LOVE fried bologna, and I found some Oscar Meyer without carbs.

            Did you forget to adjust that bacon quantity or did you really hav 3 cups of bacon?

            so boil you a bunch of eggs and keep them in the fridge if you want eggs then they are ready when you are

            You seems to be only eating letuce with a bit of tomato for your veggies. lettce better known around here as chewy water is not a good choice unless you have dark green stuff and even then you don't really wantthe whole 2 cups to be lettce so you can get the micronutrients in those salad vegies we all need.

            Dr Atkins says 1/2 your carbs MUST come from your vegies so if you keep picking lettuce then you will not be able to keep eating cheese dressing or anything else that has more then 1-2 total carbs ofr the whole day in it.

              read the ingredients inthe bologna andif it doesn't have anything not listed in the chapter 11 acceptable foods lists then you can have it.

              be careful with the tomato as Dr Atkins said some folk have trouble with all the natural sugar in tomoatoes.

                No, I meant 3 pieces! hahahahahahaha! rotflmao! Okay, I'm getting tired! I think I would ralph if I had that much at once. Good advice, I did switch to a green salad pre-bagged mix that is spinach and field greens. Is this better? Yea! I can have some fried bologna after supper as a reward for not cheating!

                  Yes, the spinach and field greens are great...good choice! Take some time and go over the veggie lists in DANDR and if you look at the carb counter in the beginning of the book you can see which veggies have more carbs. Choose some of those to up your carb count and to give your body a wider variety of nutrients and fiber.
                  And I'd suggest to not eat a whole tomato at one sitting either. If you feel you must then pair it with a fatty dressing like ranch or blue cheese to conteract the sugars.

                  It's best to plan ahead and have foods like boiled eggs on hand...I love eggs, they give you the perfect fat/protein/carb balance and are the perfect snack.
                  I bought us a microwave egg poacher for like, 4 bucks and in 84 seconds I have nicely poached eggs for breakfast. I heat up some sausages that I've cooked ahead of time and there's breakfast.

                  Don't be shy to have your carbs up in the 15 to 20 range. After all these are GOOD carbs you're eating and many people say they feel better when their carbs are up there.
