    Hello all,

I would like an objective look at my menu from the carb-gurus.
Any and all replies greatly appriciated.

I keep breakfast and lunch the same... what can I say, boiled eggs are fast in the morning and I love tuna and omega 3s are important too...

I do vary my supper a little, so Ill include what Ive been doing in the past few weeks...

    Breakfast
    2 hard boiled eggs

    Lunch
    2 cans water tuna
    2 tbsp mayo
    1 1/2 cups lettuce

    Supper 1
    2 all beef burgers
    2 fried eggs
    1 1/2 cups lettuce

    Supper 2
12 chicken wings (with a touch of franks hotsauce)
    2 tbsp ceaser dressing
    1 1/2 cups lettuce

    Supper 3
1 1/2 cups chicken breasts (roasted)
    2 tbsp ceaser dressing
    1 1/2 cups lettuce

I drink about 3-4 cups of coffee a day, no not decaf... and its down from about 6 cups...

I also drink about 90-100oz water a day, take a multivitamin and try to get in a little exercise, but I have not been going hard because I feel so tired after work I just want to go to bed... but I do drag myself to the gym and spend about 30 minutes on the treadmill or bike then its off to the weights for 20 minutes of iron pump.

    Any comments appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Nilo K

Aren't you tired of lettuce? There are a ton of recipes out there to try for other veggies. I wasn't much of a veggie person AT ALL before I started this diet, now I crave them. I just made Cauliflower salad the other night <instead of potatoes use cauliflower>. I cut up some hard boiled eggs to put in them too..mmmmm! I also cut off some broccoli tops and put them in a microwave safe bowl of water. I nuke em for 12 minutes and drain em. Then, I put some butter all over and voila! Nice and quick! You seem to be losing some nice weight there, but since this is a life long commitment, you may want to spark up some veggie variety. Not only that, but it will help boost you up a bit, and not be so tired. Lettuce REALLY doesn't have much to offer <atleast iceberg>.GL!
PS: you seem to be getting your main fuel at dinner time. Why don't you bump breakfast up with some sausage or bacon. Get more food at breakfast..it will help sustain you during the day. You are starving yourself in the morning, and giving yourself caffiene <which is causing you to burn that little bit of gas you gave your body> then you are chugging out toward afternoon. Slugging most of your hard calories in at night will not help you burn them too easy. It is obviously much easier to burn calories during the day while your wide awake and moving around. Picture yourself as a car, getting 1/4 of a tank of gas in the morning, then using it. For lunch you give yourself 1/2 tank, then use it. At dinner, you get a full tank, then what? Sit on a full tank with no place to go? See what I mean?

I agree with Coitrina - substitute some more nutritious vegetables - have you read my recent thread about lettuce as opposed to the other vegetables

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Simple is a wonderful thing...I'm a big fan of simple!
You do need to get a better variety of vegetables in your diet...both for the nutrients and (Holy Constipation, Batman!) for the fiber.
I break off some chunks of broccoli or cauliflower and throw it in a container with some mushrooms, cucumber, peppers (whatever I have on hand) and take along a little container of ranch or blue cheese dressing to dip it in. Super simple, and gets my veggies in there.
Actually...if you chop those veggies up, throw in the tuna and add mayo, it makes a great tuna salad.

A word about tuna...there is talk that a person should not have too much tuna or salmon because of the mercury in them.
You can do a search on this...I did and I found this chart
            http://www.doh.wa.gov/fish/LimitsGraph.pdf

Franks Hot Sauce is legal...you can have more than a 'touch' of it if you want.

Your breakfast of 2 boiled eggs...that's fine! I ate that for a long time...I started by choking one down(wasn't ever a breakfast eater either...but that changed) and then I moved up to two..and now I have sausages on hand that I've precooked, and I nuke them and have with the eggs. Eggs have the perfect fat/protein/carb balance, so it's a great way to start your day.

So switch up the vegetables...work on switching to decaf (go half caf for a week and wean yourself off....good job on bringing your coffee consumption down though!).
These little changes will all add up in the long run...trust me!

              Re: Menu critique

Im actually thinking of devilin up the eggs to make them more appealing... sausages sound good, but Im finding that Im getting some heartburn from all the fatty foods that Im chowing down. Im fine with fish, but when it comes to meat with high fat, burn time.

Anyone else experienced this in induction ? does it go away or is it something that I should be concerned with. Its only been about 3-4 days, first two weeks went by without a hitch... now mid of the third week of my extended induction... input please...

Veggies... I must learn to love them... lol... Im a pasta/pizza person... I could have lived my life with pizza... no no, not the pizzaria or frozen, but homemade from the crust up. Im going to play with my dough recipie and try to make it low carb as a treat after Ive reached my goal. Something to look forward to, its funny but the more I think about creating a low carb version of my deep dish, the more I want to reach my goal and create it.

Thanks again for the input everyone. Please add more...

I made a pizza that is good! I took fresh mushrooms and put them on the bottom of a greased 9X13 glass baking dish. Then I topped them with pizza sauce. 1/4 cup of pizza sauce has 4 grams of carbs, so I used this sparingly <I also have a family to feed, so the portions are divided as well>. Also make sure you pay attention to the list of ingredients in the pizza sauce, as some had added sugar, mine doesn't. I then topped shredded cheese and peperoni slices on top. You can top it with whatever meats you want, since the sauce and the mushrooms alone can add up if your not too careful. Put on some ham and sausage too <if ya want> then I baked it @ 350 til the cheese was melted and it just looked done. MMMMMMM!
                I did it!!
