2nd day...only avraging 12-15 carbs ??

  • 2nd day...only avraging 12-15 carbs ??

    Hello,

    Well second day and all is well im not finding it hard at all, bit of a pain ensuring correct amounts of salad and veg but hey will prob get used to that.

    Im only avraging 9-10 carbs a day ??? is this ok...or should i include more ???

    Im trying to drink more water im avaraging approx 6 pints a day i am putting what I have eaten on fitday. http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...ner=chelsea976

    12-15 carbs a day is about what most people average, but it certainly won't hurt you to eat closer to the 20 carb mark. Some people say they feel better having those extra carbs, and since it's mostly from vegetables it's not like it's going to compromise your weight loss.
    Choose some higher carb veggies both for the extra carbs and for the fiber and nutrients they offer.
    You'll probably find that as the days go by you'll be up and down with the carb count. YOu don't want it to stay consistently low as your body may interpret that as starvation, so don't be shy to turn to the higher carb veggies.

      Ive just read the sticky on fitday...and working out my carbs they are actually less than the 12-15...HELP...what else can i eat to get my carbs up a little...????

        I've just had a look at your fitday and of course there's something wrong with it or with you!
        First thing you have to make sure you eat the three cup of veggies daily
        I don't know you but to me counting by 'slices' and 'rings' was only confusing. Try to use the cup, 1/2 cup, 1/4, 1/8
        and
        carrots - if you are on induction you shouldn't eat them at all
        btw 0.44carb for two thin slices
        Mushrooms - 1small count 0.35carb
        without realizing you've already forgotten to count almost 1 carb
        do you use spices?
        you can add
        black pepper, 1ts 1carb
        garlic, 1clove 1carb
        oregan is quite high in carb as a spice too!

          As Gala said, carrots are not allowed...and beets are not allowed either...beet greens are allowed, but not the beets themselves.

          It really is easier if you figure out how much 1 slice, or 1 ring of a veggie is in terms of cups, so you know how close you are to your 3 cup a day veggie limit. I couldn't tell there if you had come close or gone over. I've looked at your other days and you do that there, so just continue on with that.

          As we talked about, switch up to some higher carb veggies to up your carb count and make sure you're counting everything you eat (including butters or oils you cook things in) to make sure you are getting it all.

          It can take a while to get the hang of it....just keep going!

          I'd also caution you about the 15 slices of ham...remember it has a lot of sodium in in so make sure you drink a little extra water to flush all that out.

            Hi,

            to be honest I dont like the fitday site...basically I am having 1 cup of lettuce and 1 cup of salad greens and 1 cup of veg a day salad is lunch and veg at dinner snacks are either protiens and or celery or one slice of pepper. as for the carrot is was a baby carrot halved and grated so was'nt much.

            spices are not used every day as depends on what Im cooking.

            most of what I cook is in the either one of the 2 14 day induction books I have so I am going on net carb for the recipe.

            I think I am only failing with the snacks as I get sick of meat and everything else seems to have too many carbs..

            Im finding this all a bit fustrating now... :-(

            the mushroom and pepper is accounted for in veg and salad cups and would account to less then 1/4 of a cup if that.
