    Breakfast:2 chicken legs with skin/brocolli with cheese and butter.
    Snack: 2 hard boiled eggs with mayo/mustard
    Lunch: Hamburger patty and brocolli with cheese
    Dinner:chicken salad with ranch dressing
    Snack: Cheese
    Water 50ozs still working on water

    Currently on the following meds for hypertension
    labetalol
    benicar
    nifediac
    SW:240
    CW:236
    GW:160

    Are you using www.fitday to chart your foods? If not, get yourself a free account there and see how the numbers line up. Here's a link to help you with that:

    Did you stay within your 1 cup limit of the broccoli? Did the chicken salad have veggies in it? Did you have your 3 cups of veggies total in your day?
    It looks like you're on the right track, post a few more days menu and give us a little more detail on the amounts ok?

      since you are on BP meds be sure to closly monitor it because Atkins has a natural diuretic effect and many many ADBBers have gotten too low on meds and Atkins. when you notice the lowering discuss with your doc about adjusting your meds. ThinkRick just came off his last week

      menu looks like a good start but do you have some of your veggie carbs at breakfast too? we need to get in the habit of having some protein some carb and some fat at all meals so we don't spike Blood sugar. happy low carbing.

        Yesterdays menu
        Breakfast:
        3 pieces smoked ham
        scambled eggs with cheese
        Lunch:
        Hamburger patty 1 cup salad
        1/2 cup iced tea sweetened with splenda
        Snack:
        Pork rinds
        1/2 cup iced tea sweetened with splenda
        Dinner:
        Baked fish
        1/2 cup green beans
        water not enough

          You were 1 and 1/2 cups of veggies short!!

          Try having some sliced mushrooms with your breakfast or a few cherry tomatoes! And maybe some extra veg at dinner too.

          If you are going to eat pork rinds do make sure you have extra water, as they contain lots of salt and tend to make people retain water!

          BTW you ought to be drinking at least 64 ounces plus 8 extra for every 25 pounds you want to shed - so you need to get that water count up to 88 fluid ounces minimum

          F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )
