  • Really Confused!!

Hello everyone!! I have been reading the posts here for sometime and I am making this my first post
    Question is this....

I have been on Atkins now for three weeks. I drink about 90oz of water a day. I work out about 30 mins a day and I have been doing that before starting Atkins. I do have the book and I know I should maybe read it yet again as I am not understanding a few things. I have lost about 9 pounds so far which is good but I have a feeling I may be doing somethings wrong. I would appreciate any advice on my menu:+)

    Break:
2 eggs fried in Canola Oil
decaf coffee with 2 splenda packets and 3 tb heavy cream

    lunch:
    2 cups salad
    2 tb ranch dressing
    1 oz. shredded chedder cheese
1 chicken breast or 1 cup cooked ground beef

    dinner:
usually 2-3 pieces chicken or 1 cup raw beef
1 cup lettice or 1 cup brocolli or half avocado
If I have brocolli than I add 1 tsp butter

My only BAD BAD habit is eating 2 cups of pork rinds every now and again.

I would really LOVE to see a typical weeks worth of food that someone on here has done through induction. I have 80 pounds to lose by the way

I just started fitday.com and I have the hardest time keeping the ratios right. How much can they fluctuate? Ie. I usually have Fat 72% Carbs 3% and protein 25% Is that ok?

    start weight: 218/ current: 209/ goal: 129

    Re: Really Confused!!

Congrats on the great start you have made.

pork rinds should be about 1 cup a day for induction according to Dr Atkins info for the Duke study eaters doing induction.

you don't have any veggie carbs at breakfast. spread them out to all meals so when you add more later you will not have some high carb meals and some no carb meals.

Remember to only eat enough food to satisfy your hunger at a meal and stop.

Oh and if you were already doing 30 min a day when you started Atkins you need to increase the time and or intensity as exercise is something new to you for weight loss.

    Happy low carbing.

      Re: Really Confused!!

Thanks for that 2big4mysize. I know the pork rinds are making me retain water like a sea cow so I need to cut those back for sure As far as the fitday.com account, I know the range is 65% 30% 5% but is it more important that the carbs stay at 20 or more important to stick very close to the %'s? Always seems like when I have my %'s down right then my carbs are either to much or to little. Also can we eat green beans?

P.s I am an American in Australia (just moved here recently) so anyone who lives here I would love to be able to chat about what foods we have here that we dont have back home. Ie. It took me ages to find pork rinds cause they call it Crackle here....LOL

        Hey there!
'retain water like a sea cow'....lol

        You've read this about Fitday?
        http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5235

You also have 'raw beef' in your menu that you posted....are you really eating raw beef or is that a typo?

If you are following the Rules of Induction and eating correctly from the Acceptable Foods list, both your percentages and your carbs should be pretty much where they need to be. Both will fluctuate slightly from day to day and that's fine...no need to fret over it unless they are really out of whack for days at a time.
In the beginning I didn't know about fitday or ratios and I just followed the Rules and counted carbs. When I entered my foods in after discovering fitday, I saw that just by following the book, my percentages were where they needed to be, so that Dr. Atkins sure knew what he was talking about.

Yes, you can have green beans! They are on the 1 cup list.

Is the lettuce a dark green leafy one? Avoid iceberg, as it's little more than chewy water and focus on mixed greens or just go for other veggies so you get a good mix of nutrients and fiber.
