    Extended Induction

    Re: 4th Day Induction Menu

That looks pretty decent to me!
Maybe try and have a little more veggies at lunch time....or maybe scramble some mushrooms in with your eggs, just to spread the veggies out through the day.
Did you feel like it was enough food?
Are you using Fitday? There's a link in this forum with tips on how to use it...it can tell you a lot about where you are with your foods.

Good job on the no soda/coffee....and how much water? At least 64 ounces minimum?

Looks pretty good actually, keep up the good work! Becareful of onions, tend to be high in sugars. But way to go!

The few days you have listed there don't look complete....I don't see any vegetables at all...did you just forget to fill it all out?
Remember to enter in everything you eat...if you scramble your eggs with butter, put the butter in (it's better to choose individual ingredients rather than Fitday's combos such as 'eggs, scrambled, with fat').
The more accurate you are with this the better an idea you'll get of where you are with your foods.

Yeah, the first few days I was getting used to everything and had to custom enter most of the foods I was going to use as the ones that fitday came up with did not match the nutritional labels. So february 13 is the first day I am able to log eveyrthing in exactly. I will try to go back and complete the other days now that I am familiar with the FitDay program. Thanks again for the help!

              Okay!

I went back and completed my FitDay food journal to accurately reflect what I consumed since day #1 of induction.

              http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...Owner=kirkhunt

Today, day #4 (Feb 13) has already started off a little rough. I did not wake up in time to make my breakfast. So I haven't had breakfast (which I know is a no-no) and am going to stock my office with protein snacks so that I can at least put something in my system until lunch.

Lunch should goes as planned and at the advice given above I have removed the onions from the tuna salad I'm going to make for lunch today. Is there some other way I can make it "oniony"? Is onion power okay? When I'm more adventureous and have more time to plan, I will add more crunchy things to the tuna salad (ie: cucumbers).

I am going to work on proposed menus for the next few days so if any of you would like to review them, let me know and I will enthusiastically take your advice regarding any changes or modifications.

              Thanks!

                Re: 4th Day Induction Menu

Fitday looks good except you don't have veggies on the 11th.

you can have the onions. Your metabolism may handle them fine mine did but some folk can't handle onions or tomatoes as the higher dsugar content makes them crave stuff.

since you woke up late try doing what many ADBBer vets do and make breakfast stuff the night before and just nuke it in the AM or even freeze the "egg muffins" made with the fillings you like and then just grab one nuke it and go.

So what you doing for your exercise part of your Atkins?
we got lots of challenges to help you stay motivated and you can see them in the exercise challenge forum and a few like the BFL and the vidiots in the exercise forum.

                  Re: 4th Day Induction Menu

Another thought on breakfast.... when I started in January, I made the sausage and egg "muffins" basically an egg cracked in a muffin tin with pork sausage (already cooked) and then baked in the oven till the egg is done. I took a pan full of them to work and left them itn he fridge so I had breakfast ready all week. It was convenient to add mushroom or onion to the mix and let them cook along in the oven. Theres a recipe in the recipe forums for exact instructions if that sounds feasable to you.
Something else that Ive begun doing, boiled eggs. I make a big pot on the weekends and Im good for breakfast at work and can add them to salads etc if I need them. I have an egg or two in the morning with a piece of sausage and Im good to go.

                    Re: 4th Day Induction Menu

You can use green onions, and onion powder if you want.
For tuna salad, I like to add celery, pickles or try capers...they're great in tuna and salmon salad!

For snacks, remember that a protein/fat combo is what you want to aim for instead of just protein.

You've got pickle relish there....if there's sugar in it you'll need to omit it.

It'd be best if you stayed away from the soda as well...at least for the first two weeks of Induction. Get rid of that sugar monster...!! I know they may have splenda in them, but when you think of it from a nutritional point of view, they do nothing for you.
Iced decaf green tea with lemon would be better for you.

                      Re: 4th Day Induction Menu

                      Thanks guys!

I really appreciate all the advice! I am going to try those egg things in the muffin cups because I'm really struggling with breakfast.

The pickle relish I'm using in my tuna salad has no sugar (I checked) it's the sour kind (dill) and the nutritional info states it has 0 carbs.

I love green onions, so I think I will try some in my tuna salad. I'm gonna experiment with chicken salad this weekend.

I'll try to lay off the splenda laden diet sodas, but it'll be hard. I am drinking 4 liters of water a day though in addition to the few diet sodas.

Thanks for the advice and feel free to audit my daily menus and give me any warnings you may think may inhibit weightloss.

I know I have lost weight so far, but I will wait until tomorrow to post!

                          yay Kirk, congrats!!!

This link has a version of the eggmuffins. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...sausage+muffin

and this is another version http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...sausage+muffin

I useone egg per muffin cup (and I dont beat them, just break the yolk). If Im feeling ambitious when I make them, I add a slice of mushroom or some onion. Ive eaten them cold and they are just fine. Hot with some melted sharp cheddar cheese is yummy. If you have the large muffin tins, Id imagine the possiblilities to be endless with adding veggies, spices etc since you have the extra room to play with. I know what its like hating breakfast. Ive reached the point now where I am hungry in the mornings and I can eat anhour after being awake. Dont be afraid to experiement. just cause its breakfast doesnt mean ya gotta eat eggs. Ive made leftover ribeye for breakfast. you want porkchops at 630am, eat um.
