  • Day 2 of Induction-- Please review my menu!

I know that my appetite is supposed to decrease after Day 2 or 3, so I'm telling myself that I've been doing okay. Still though, I can't get over the feeling that I'm eating A TON! Please let me know what you think...

It looks pretty good, except you aren't getting your veggies. Do you have the book (DANDR)? If not, you can go to the website, they have a list of the Induction veggies and the amounts you can eat of them. Its important to try and get 3 cups a day in. Other than that it looks good. Don't worry about how much you are eating, as long as you are hungry when you eat. Let go of all the low fat/low calorie lies we all have been told. Follow the program to the letter, and all will work on its own. No worries!!!
What would we do without it?

I'm fairly new at this too. I am doing extended induction. You are getting in a lot of water, that is great, try to make sure that you're not drinking it all at one sitting, it should be consumed throughout the day. I don't eat many veggies either because I'm afraid of over doing it. I think that your menu looks good. Eat when you're hungry and not because your bored, that's the hard for me. Good luck and talk to ya soon.
Wishing everyone confidence and will power,

Pickles aren't two cups of veggies. but other than that, it looks find. I don't know about the sausage, some of them have fillers but since it didn't come up with any carbs, your okay there.
If you don't like veggies, let us know cause we have some great ideas for you...

As the others said, you are short on vegetables. There is an amazing variety that we are supposed to choose from, so look down the list and choose your favourites.
          Vegetables
You can have two to three cups per day of:
          alfalfa sprouts : daikon : mushrooms : arugula : endive : parsley : bok choy : escarole : peppers : celery : fennel : radicchio : chicory : jicama : radishes : chives : lettuce : romaine lettuce : cucumber : mache : sorrel
These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber.

          Other Vegetables
You can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:
artichoke : celery root : pumpkin : artichoke hearts : rhubarb : asparagus : chard : sauerkraut : bamboo shoots : collard greens : scallions : dandelion leaves : snow peas : bean sprouts : dandelion greens : spaghetti squash : beet greens : eggplant : spinach : broccoli : hearts of palm : string or wax beans : broccoli rabe : kale : summer squash : brussels : kohlrabi : tomato : bean sprouts : leeks : turnips : cabbage : okra : water chestnuts : cauliflower : onion : zucchini
If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.
If you are not eating these you might have problems in the 'bathroom department'.

Remember Atkins is not a 'no carbs' regime - Dr Atkins told us to get over half of our carbs from our vegetables, so if you dont eat your 'allowance of them you will also be limited in what other carbs you can have (in eggs, cheese, sweeteners etc)
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I noticed you eat Carl Budding meats. I also know that particular meat is processed with lots of fillers. I don't know exactly what you are eating from Carl Budding <wether it be turkey, ham, etc> but this is the ingredients from their Honey Turkey:

            Ingredients:
            • "Turkey, Turkey Broth, Mechanically Separated Turkey, Honey, Less Than 2% Of: Salt, Sugar, Maple Sugar, Natural Flavorings, Carrageenan, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrite, Sodium Phosphates, Monosodium Glutamate."
YUCK!!!!! First off they have mechanically sepparated ANYTHING. Second they have LOTS of soduim, you can see SUGAR <---BAD!! I think the Sodium Nitrite might be the same as Nitrates, which we need to avoid. In any event,
If you are going to eat any deli meat, goto the deli and get the REAL stuff. Either that or make sure you look at the back of the package to see what they add into it.
They add junk to the Taco Bell meat too, so make your own at home. I cook hamburger and add garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder. Put that on some shredded lettuce with a little tomato, taco sauce <read the ingredients to find a good kind> smidgen of sour cream and some shredded cheddar cheese. Tastes better than Taco Bell, and it is safer. It is important to really read the ingredients of anything you are going to buy. I purchased Chorizo <spicy mexican sausage> and there were a few different brands. One brand had 6 grams of carbs and another brand had zero. It all depends on what they add to it.
            I did it!!
