  • Am I eating too much?? Please check out my menu.

    Thanks in advance to all who check my menu for me. I want to start OWL on Monday, but I am worried that I am eating too much (too many calories). I only eat when I am hungry, but it seems like I have been eating more as of late. I have been doing more exercise, and I drink around 100 oz. of water a day. I don't drink anything but water. I weighed myself this morning and I gained 3 pounds. I don't know if this is because of the added exercise (maybe more muscle?), or because TOM is comming, or because I have been eating too much. Any advice would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks!!

    P.S. I have not cheated, not once!!
    What would we do without it?

    Hi - your menu looks fine to me except for the 1.5 cups of pork rinds.
    I seem to remember seeing on this board that the Atkins centre when Dr Atkins was there recommended no more than one cup of those per day. I assume this is because of the salt content which might be making you retain water. Also I dont think that eating a lot of pork rinds is of much benefit nutrition-wise!

    You say you seem to be eating more but that is probably because you are doing more exercise - your body needs more sustenance if you are making it work harder (good for you for increasing your exercise ) so if you are eating till no longer hungry not just to finish your plate (as our parents always made us do!!) then that is fine.

    You will probably have days when you dont want to eat as much too.

    Do you ever feed the exercise figures into fitday? That would give you a better indication of what your body can cope with.

    So just relax and move on to OWL as planned!

      Thank you so much!! I know the pork rinds aren't good for me, but I was craving a crunchy snack and they hit the spot. I never even used to eat those things before this WOL! I weighed myself this morning, and the three pounds I gained are gone!!! I bet it was just water retention. Thanks for the advice, and Monday is OWL rung 1 for me!

        good for you moving to OWL. enjoy those added veggies

        Yep your menu looks good I was concerend your carbs were too high one day in there but you have veggies as the too many carbs so that wasn't too bad.

        you got 3 things going on with fluids right now so don't sweat sudden weight gains as you know fat pounds don't jump on your body in one day they creep on a few 10ths at a time so you don't notice them until they are securely attatatched.

          Thank you, 2big!! The days that the carbs were high, I had high fiber also. Does that show up when a visitor looks?? If I take the fiber out of the carbs I eat I have never gone over 20 grams. I am excited to be able to eat more veggies, I just love them. Thanks for all the support you have given me!

            actually fitday take the fiber out in the bottom of the carbohydrates column number so you were over for carbs period that day with the brussel sprouts

              I was never able to get fitday to take the fiber out of the total count at the bottom, so I think it shows total carbs, not net. Anyone else find it to be that way? It tracked fiber in the list, but it always showed the total at the bottom, not the net.

                Yes, on fitday it shows total carbs, but in the chart at the top, it shows total carbs, and total fiber in seperate columns. Take yesterday, I had 20 total carbs, and 6 grams fiber. Am I just using Fitday wrong? I don't know how to get it to use the net carbs.

                  no you have it tracking fiber for you in that chart. we don't see that chart on your public view page. we see this and your foods log list.
