  • my food plan

started 5 days ago, have the book on order so I'm kind of "winging it" with this site and the "atkins essentials" book.

    my days look like this

    breakfast
    4 pcs bacon
    2 eggs
    water

    lunch
1/4 lb chicken salad over 2 cups salad

    dinner
    6-8 oz. chicken or steak
    1 cup salad
    1 cup broccoli

    snack
    atkins bar

    5 days in, 6lbs down

    no induction flu?

    drinking lots of water
    (peeing ALL THE TIME)

is sugar free jello/pudding with whipped cream on the list?
guessing its a no go for induction? how soon after induction?
    thanks
    greg

    Re: my food plan

Check out the printable list of acceptable foods for induction in the induction forum. Basically, if it's not on the list don't eat it.

We do not recommend eating low carb bars, shakes etc. They are very well known stallers for many people not to mention many get gastro-intestinal upset from them. Ditch em!

If the sugar free jello is made with aspartame, then don't eat it. Dr. Atkins advised us to not eat anything made from aspartame. Whipped cream is allowed as long as it's real heavy cream whipped without sugar/aspartame. Three to five ounces of heavy cream is allowed on induction as a special category food. If it slows down your weight loss, don't use it. That's why it is a special category food. Some people can tolerate it, some can't.

The rules for induction with regards to veggies is 2-3 cups from the 'salad' veggie list (which contains much much more then just lettuces) OR 2 cups from the 'salad' list PLUS 1 cup from the 'other acceptable' veggie list. No more and certainly no less. I see you can tweak that.

Lastly, Atkins is a high fat diet. We strive for 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs most of which come from the acceptable veggies. www.fitday.com can help you track that. I think you need more fat in your diet.

Otherwise, looking good. You'll be glad you ordered the book. It'll be your best tool.

It also helps to try to spread your veggies out throughout the day. Personally, I try to make sure that I have veggies at every meal. When I would eat my veggies in one single meal, I would be cravy later and feel the need to 'forage' for more food. When I spread them out, the cravings disappeared. Just a little tip. Keep up the good work.
