  • FitDay question...

    Hi Guys!

This is my first post here after having scrolled around for a while so here goes my first question.

Can anyone tell me what "(yield after cooking)" means?
For example, i have a 5oz. package of bacon, and if I wanted to calculate the nutrition facts for half that package I would input 2.5oz. raw, (yield after cooking) right? But what does it really mean??

I'm sorry if this question sounds kinda stupid, but English isn't my native tounge and I have never seen the word "Yield" in this context before.

    Thank's a lot!

I think it means weight after cooking. Bacon for example would lose some of it's fat through cooking therefore less weight after cooking.

      Thank's Isabeau!

That would mean that in Fitday the nutritional info that is shown when you specify (for example 2.5oz. of raw bacon) shows the actual values of the bacon after that it has been cooked, right? Now I get it....I think ;-)

        Re: FitDay question...

I see as fitday has estimated the lost volume between raw and cooked. So if i have a 4 oz steak when it's raw, it won't be 4 oz when it's cooked, but fitday has calculated that?

I think so, when you choose between the raw and cooked options. Personally I use the custom option for everything I buy with a nutritional label whether it be bacon, cream cheese or pickles! I love the custom option because it really reflects those foods that I eat that aren't as straight forward as brocolli or lettuce or chicken.

Thank's for your answers I just discovered the custom option, think I'll try that instead.
