Re: pls check out my menu

Hi! Glad you're on your way!

I think your food choices are absolutely wonderful. I'm trying to find something to correct, and I can't find a thing! You fit in your 2 cups salad + 1 cup other veggies. At least half of your carbs came from veggies. You chose whole, real and healthy foods. I say BRAVO!

    Some questions:
    • Were your meals spaced so that you didn't go 6 waking hours without eating something?
    • What were your fat/protein/carb ratios? Do you know to aim for 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs?
    • Did you check your bacon to make sure it doesn't contain sugar? I find that MOST bacons are cured with sugar, and have to go out of my way to find one without it.
    • Same with the Caesar dressing, just make sure you've read the label and know it doesn't contain anything you shouldn't have (corn syrup, sugar, etc.)
    • Do you use Fitday.com to track your daily intake? If not, I HIGHLY recommend it, it makes life a LOT easier, and you can watch your trends and do reports to give you a lot more information about your eating and nutrition.
    • Did you feel satisfied throughout the day? Did you feel like you were eating enough to keep yourself from feeling hungry? I don't know the quantities of some of the things you ate, but it looks like it could've been a very light day, and I just want to make sure you're eating enough to feed your hunger and your body's needs. Some people who are new to Atkins and used to traditional dieting have a hard time adjusting to the idea of EATING when they're hungry and shedding the belief that feeling hungry and starving themselves is a good thing.
    • What type of lettuce or greens did you have in your salad? I like to encourage people to get the most nutritional bang from their salad veggies, and that means abandoning iceberg lettuce for a green with some nutrition. For instance, ounce for ounce, just switching from iceberg to Romaine lettuce gives you more than 8x the Vitamin A, more than 6x the vitamin C, double the calcium, double the folate, double the potassium, and more than double the phosphorus. And that's just romaine! Spring greens, and mixed baby greens, are terrific choices. Boston lettuce, arugula and endive are better than iceberg, but not a ton better. Believe it or not Radicchio is even more devoid of nutrition than iceberg. If you move up to lamb's lettuce (aka mache) and/or leafy spinach or baby spinach, you get a huge jump in nutritional impact (the most I know of for salad greens).
You don't NEED an evening snack unless your body tells you that you need an evening snack. Unless you are up for more than 6 hours after dinner, in which case it's a good idea to have a little something to keep your blood sugar levels even. Otherwise if you feel hungry, have a snack. If not, don't.

Hope this helps, but you're doing a great job already, keep it up!

I'm not sure what the 1% alcohol is from, can you tell which food had it on the label? It's a good idea to avoid sugar alcohols (I'm assuming that's what it was) until at least after induction. I think it's a good idea to avoid them as much as possible, even AFTER induction, but during induction is the most important time, your body is adjusting to so much, and you want tolet it maximize it's weight loss potential so you see the best results possible after the end of 14 days, and therefore are motivated to stick with it. Sugar alcohols affect people differently, some are stalled and some are just fine.

Headaches are normal, probably from caffeine withdrawal. I had the WORST headaches when I gave up caffiene, it was just awful.

How are you doing so far?
