  • Question: Frozen foods??

Hey again I obviously have a question about eatting already made food!

I'm a very fast pace person so its hard for me to cook homemade even though i know its the best way to lose the weight. I wanted to know, however, if eatting certain, acceptable frozen foods is permissible. Some things that I really like to eat from the frozen section is the fish from Gorden something, i think. Where its that yellow box...i love the lemon-herb fish or the cajun salmon! I also wanted to try the meatballs that come from a bag?? I know these might be higher in sodium but Carbs are great.

I need help what foods maybe permissible that are already cooked frozen or that comes from those already made bags! Please help oh and another thing I've had bugging me as a question is that is cole slaw allowed?? Maybe in the induction phase but what about after the two weeks? i'm talking about coleslaw from KFC or store bought in those bags.

I also get confused with sugar!! Can we any amount of sugar. Like the coleslaw dressing for example. It shows it has 2 grams of sugar...is that aceptable?? Please please help, I know what i wrote is long and maybe too many quesetions but I could really use the help!

If you're doing induction, you should follow the rules as set out in Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002). You do not want ANY added sugars in your food, and this applies also to starches. Lots of prepackaged food has added fillers you should avoid. You should read ingredients list and carb content of menu items of interest before making a decision to eat it. www.fitday.com can help with this too. Remember, you want your carbs to come mostly from your veggies; a few will be in other induction foods, like cheese and some meats.

Why not try to cook homemade once a week and store meals cooked and packed ahead with ingredient you put there, like cole-slaw sweetened with Splenda?

I agree with Susan (whom I would like to say, I really like your new picture!! Nice...good job!, you still look like your losing!!!).

You have to be careful, that Gordon's Fish you are talking about has, corn syrup solids, cornstarch too. That's very bad.

If you prepare several big meals, you will have lots of yummy leftovers. Check out the recipe section for some of those.

Oh yes, the meatballs I've seen in the store (Mama Leones, Etc) all use bread crumb fillers. You can do the same, with a twist and instead of bread crumbs, use ground pork rinds instead!! It may sound weird, but believe me, it works! My family likes my meatballs better than store bought! Sweet! And they freeze really really good.

      Good Luck!

Here's a good site for looking up those frozen foods nutrition labels: www.dietfacts.com use brand name and main ingredient in search bar, then click item in question from the results list.

            Re: Question: Frozen foods??

I buy the frozen broc/cauliflower in the bag. Its just pain, but I also add just a tad of Sun-ripened tomato alfredo sauce (Clasico is the brand) (3 carbs per 1/4 cup serving). Its quick and easy and I can eat off of a bag usually for 3-4 days.

I am like you, I dont really have the time to cook alot, so I cook a couple times a week and go ahead and put the food into little containers so I just grab em and go. Oh, and I keep a pack of low carb wheat tortillas at work. Best wishes!
