  • Induction Menu

    Breakfast:
    3 slices ham
    1 slice provolone
    1 medium stalk celery
1 tsp mustard (ingredients were mustard seed, water, spices, vinegar so it seemed ok)
    20 oz water

    Lunch:
    1 cup romaine
    1 medium slice onion
1 medium stalk celery (sliced on salad)
    1 slice provolone
    oil + red wine vinegar
    1/2 chicken breast
    20oz water

    Snack:
    1 string cheese
    20 oz water

    Dinner:
    1 cup romaine
    1 medium slice onion
1 medium stalk celery (sliced on salad)
    1 slice provolone
    oil + red wine vinegar
    1 chicken breast grilled
    20 oz water

I'm looking for a better snack idea but it has to be something completely portable and frequently something that can be in a backpack for 4 hours =P I know it kinda seems like a boring menu and I'll vary it slightly as I get more comfortable with portions and rules. The breakfast is so weird because it gets eaten on the go. Let me know what you think....today is my first day. Tried atkins out maybe 3 years ago now and have long since lost any respectable eating habits.

Very nice, Fureya. You have obviously done this before. Do you use fitday.com to enter your daily menus? There it will keep track of everything in daily totals and percentages. Two of my favorite fridge-free induction snacks are porkskins and homemade jerky. I also kept bouillion cubes handy as sipping broth helped reduce cravings and "induction flu" that can happen after day 1, while your body is switching over to ketosis.

Portable snacks...well this is assuming you have an insulated container : cream cheese or sliced meat rolled up in lettuce leaf (secure with a toothpick or 2), pepperoni slices, cucumber slices (topped with a slice of cheese, if you like). I'm sure there's tons more though!

        Re: Induction Menu

The pepperoni slices sound excellent I was just concerned with it being a processed meat.

I do intend to venture out with some different foods. I have lamb, mushrooms and spaghetti squash...three things that I've practically never eaten in my life, to add into the mix this week =)

And yes I'm using fitday =) It looks pretty helpful indeed!

          Re: Induction Menu

That's the advantage of fitday - you can juggle possibilities for tomorrow's menu (just let your dates be a day behind) and know how the pepperoni (or other slightly carby legal food) affects your %'s with respect to the rest of the day's foods, and adjust what you eat accordingly to get the 20 net carbs and 65/30/5 ratio.
