  • Induction menu review please

I'm on day 2 of induction. I think I did good yesterday, but there might have been too many veggies. (I never realized how much I like veggies until this week) Anyone want to check and give me some pointers? (I only have housework as exercise, but I'll change that today.) Also I checked and my fiber isn't showing up. On the 11th I had 26 carbs, but 9 were fiber. Blech, now my deviled eggs put me over in fat...

    Re: Induction menu review please

    Hey Bobbysgirl,

Just glancing through your menu the first thing I noticed is that you are not eating enough food!! You should probably be getting somewhere between 1,200 and 1,400 calories per day to keep your metabolism going. Otherwise, if you don't eat enough your body starts conserving and your metabolism will slow down.

The next thing I'd check is your Canadian Bacon and your regular bacon. Does it contain sugar? If so, I'd drop it because it will make you crave and stall your weight loss. Primrose makes a sugar-free bacon and it tastes just like regular bacon.

You also need to spread your veggies around to each meal throughout the day so I try to implement some onions or bell pepper scrambled in my eggs for breakfast, veggies at lunch with my protein and fats and the same for supper.

Please don't go hungry. There are plenty of recipes here on the board for you to find something to fill in the gaps. You really need to get more veggies in. This is the start of good eating habits so please try to eat your veggies, protein and fat at each meal.

If you need any help or have any questions, please let me know.

I hope some of this helps.

Best wishes on your journey to good health!!

You need to add more veg; mushrooms, green beans etc.

Up your water intake; you should be double, 96oz given your current and goal weight.

It's my understanding that Green Beans have lots of carbs. I know the ones I get in the cans have quite a few...which ones do you eat? I LOVE grean beans, but can't find any low carb ones

They are on the 1 cups level I think (along with brocolli) but are great in butter - just regular fresh green beans (like string beans).

          Tinned probably has sugar etc?

Really, not enough veggies? I thought it was 2 cups salad veggies and 1 c any other appropriate one. 3 in total. Or can we have more? Let's see, the canned green beans I get have only natural sugars in them, nothing added. (Ingredients, Green Beans, Water, Salt.) They have 4 carbs per 1/2 C and 2 g of fiber. Are they a no no?

Gosh, not eating enough. I'm very full after each meal. I may need to spread it out into more meals. Can someone give me an idea of about how much more I need to be eating? Like what could I add to this menu to make it enough for a normal day. I may need to start adjusting. I can add more water.

Today I had breakfast- 2 hard boiled eggs, 1/2 an avacado, 2 slices of canadian bacon.

Lunch- 2 eggs made into deviled with 1 TB mayo and 1 ts yellow mustard, 1/2 cup of shrimp, and 1/2 c of cucumber slices with bacon crumbles on them.

            Snack- 2oz mozarella cheese

Dinner- planning on 4oz Talapia, 2 cups of salad, 1TB of dressing, and 1/2 c asparagus with a cheese slice melted on top.

Ok, checked the bacon and canadian bacon. Bacon is good, no sugar anywhere. But I noticed the canadian has it halfway through the ingredients. (I need to look closer at the ingredients in the store) So I should stick with the regular bacon. Also, I have some ham that has 1 carb but 1 g of sugar. No sugar in the ingredients though. Is that ok, or should I let the kids have it?

Thanks so much for the help. I really appreciate it.

Okay, I just noticed that the calories have increased since my last post. Is this yesterday's menu or is it today's? If it is today's, then scratch my comments. I will comment once there is a whole day's input there...it is hard to look at it until we see how a whole day goes.

On another note, green beans are good. You are basically getting your 20 grams of carbs from veggies so don't be afraid to eat them.

I see advocado and cucumber? where is the two cups of salad? the only change I can see is mozzarella.

I am bad at vegetables taking most of my allowance in salad; very few nutrients come from lettuce but you never see skinny rabbits

That's todays menu. The salad is coming with dinner. So is salad all I can have tonite since I already had avocado and cucumber? I'll put in what I'm planning for dinner into fitday now. I should have waited until tonite to post. It would have made things easier.

Ok, fitday has tonites dinner added to it for the day.
