  • take a look plz

    Please be gentle... I know I eat to many hotdogs.. but they are fast and
    there.

    to give you other examples-
    On the 9-6 I had the following:
    ---
    *2 cans of splenda diet rite*
    4:20pm 1 hotdog
    8pm- taco salad w/ hot sauce
    1 cup spinach lettuce, about 1 oz cheese

    9-7-06
    *2 diet rites*
    12:40pm 1 egg
    2:40- 1 egg
    4:40- 1 hotdog
    7:30pm- turkey rolls with spinach (1 cup)
    9:30- same as 7:30 (1 cup)
    11pm- 1 hotdog with cheese about 1 oz


    9-11-06

    5Am0 2 hotdogs

    1pm- 2 turkey spinach leaf rolls..(1 cup veggies)

    3pm- 1 hotdog

    6:40- 1 hotdog

    8pm- 1 hamburger patty

    *2 cans of splenda diet rite
    ------------------------
    I usually eat 2 cups of spinach leafs but was having a bad day....

    Should I add cheese or anything to up cals

    went to about 990 calories

    I would say you are not eating enough food!

    Have you tried entering your menus in www.fitday.com to check your ratios? We aim at 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs on induction.

    And you are not eating your 3 cups of veggies! Try to vary them instead of having only one type, as you may not be getting a full range of nutrients.

    How much sodium is in those hotdogs? some people find too much makes them retain water.

    Also if the turkey is deli-meat rather than slices off a whole turkey they might have a lot of sodium too.

      drinking diet soda doesn't count as a meal and it should be used sparingly in my opinion, heck just do away with diet coke and just drink flavored water instead. hot dogs? i'm not really feeling it that's like 3-5 carbs a piece depending on the brand and size. you are better off going to the store and grilling chicken breasts instead. also try not to eat after 6 pm, the reason behind that is because our metabolism slows down towards the end of the day, thats why when people eat late night snacks or in the middle of the night they gain weight. i don't see any water on your diet log so i'm hoping you are drinking quite a bit. at least 4-6 liter bottles a day is good for you and should make you feel fuller.

        the late night not eating is a myth so forget that

        first you get 2 cans a day of the soda if that is how you want to spend your sweetner allowance
        and read the FAQ on why you need water to lose weight and you will be chugging water.

        I know hotdogs are fastr but so is canned chicken or tuna and they have no carbs. you oud buy a big thing of chicken parts cook the whole thing and then package it up in one serving bags and freeze or store in frige and heat and eat instead of hotdogs same for any meat poultry or fish you want to use. I know I did that in induction and just opened the frig and let my tastebuds pick what I was going to have.

          well the late night eating rule is more towards all diets in general, i just included atkins in it as well. most other diets and articles that i have read all state you shouldn't eat after a certain time in the day. i just included that as rule on atkins because i felt it taught discipline, even though it's not part of the actual rules. does that make sense at all? i'd hate to sound stupid if i didn't give a full explanation. It was just something that helped me on my Induction phase last year.

            reading something doesn't make it so. find some scientific studies to back it up if you can. Our bodies do not shut off when we are sleeping they are busy using proteins and fats and carbs to make cellular repairs, replenish supplies in the muscles that got used up and keep us alive. the whole thing about basal metabolism has to do with keeping a person alive laying in bed a sleep 24 7 so when you divid the basal by 24 and them mulitply by the 13-14 hrs from6PM to breakfast you got a lot of caloric needs just keeping the person alive.

            Eat when you are hungry while doing your Atkins and don't over eat at any time of day and you will have won the battle with self control and be a healthier smaller version of your self.

              Hey everyone the hotdogs I get have <1 carb per dog (smile)

              secondly I'd love to give up the splenda pop but I think I'd feel a little deprived atm. For I have been craving things that are sweet and ridding it atm might cause a small binge which I havn't done in over 2 months so I'm very proud of that. But when I feel I'm able to I will do so....

              Water - Indeed I need to pour it down more. My tummy seems to get stuffed easy so it's sort of hard but I think I shouldn't use that as an excuse because it eventually goes out in 30 minutes... I was in the bathroom alot yesterday for as much water I had. I loved it because I knew that meant I was getting some good water in. I use to drink so much everything became clear :P

              For not eating enough food I agree- I am trying to up it. I will work on that also. Because my body should never feel hungry on this way of life. So I will continue to work on getting enough to eat. Wont stop until I eat a very healthy amount.

              I also know I should be switching on and off with lettuce and spinich and different veggies... just kind of into a kick with 2 cups of spinich leafs...
              I also might try getting canned chicken and actual meat to slice up. Or try to find low sodium lunch meat.
              Maybe possible cook chicken breast instead. Like the tenderloins sound yummer with a little cheese.

              Anyway rambled...

              Thanks for everyone posting. Every opinion always helps a great deal.

                Wont stop until I eat a very healthy amount this is the wrong way to do Atkins. eat oinly enough to satisfy your hunger at the time you are hungry and stop even if you got room in the tummy food onm the plate or carbs in the budgfet.

                look at it like this say you were going to fuel up your car several times a day the amount of gas you need the first time would be alot to gdt it full but them if you just went to the store and back you might need only a gallon. later say you went for a 3hr drive on the autobon at 110 MPH you'd need more fuel to replace the used up stuff. then you run errands and need more then the second time but less then the autobon journey. That is how eating is on Atkins. Our bodies have a fuel gauge and will tell us when they need more fuel or the 6 hr rule will kick in and we are forced to have a small snack of some protein/fat and some carbs not a whole meal just a small snack. then we reset the 6hr clock and pay attention to our boies to see of the 6 hr alarm or the hunger alarm goes off next. that is how we do Atkins.
                I know with an ED that might be hard but that 6 hr alarm and the hungder alarms are the triggering mecjhanism to eat and only eat a small snack or a plate full of food when hungry but again the hunger is also the cut off switch and part of doing Atkins induction is getting intouch with that cut off switch feelings. Practice during induction and OWL and you will have it mastered by premaintinance.

                  I see good responses jellybee but 2 more things needed here -

                  1. Nutrients. You should be getting more variety from your veggies list, and you should eat all you can from them to get your fiber, vitamins and minerals from natural sources. You should take supplements as well.

                  2. Meal spacing and content. You should eat 3-5 times/day, and try to include some veggies along with protein and fat for each main meal. I saw you did'nt eat at all until late afternoon one of these days. You should not go longer than 6 hours without eating at least something (in case you aren't hungry); you shouldn't skip meals.

                  Eat when you're hungry - your menu has lots of room for more!

                    Your right Boonie as always lol jp but true

                    I will look again over all the veggies and see what I can do to add different stuff into my menu. I have tons of different things.
