  • I'm at a plateau

    I've gotten to the point where meat and eggs make me sick to my stomach so I don't eat them often. A typical day for me looks like this. I need to lose 40 more pounds and I need ideas on how to jump start it because it's my weight refuses to go lower.

    Breakfast
    Either an atkins bar (3 carbs 250 calories)
    or one packet of sugarfree oatmeal
    (zero grams sugar carbs unknown amount of actual carbs to count)

    Lunch is either a southbeach diet boxed lunch
    (9 grams carbs 250 calories)
    or a salad which is about the same in terms of carbs/calories

    snack atkins bar 250 calories 3 carbs

    dinner usually chicken and broccoli or brussel sprouts
    7 carbs 250 calories

    total carbs per day usually around 30
    total calories usually around 900-1400
    December:265 lbs September:179 lbs Goal:140 lbs
    December:Size 22 September:Size 11 Goal:size 8?
    I don't wanna be too thin!

    You do know that you're about to be jumped on for eating Atkins bars right?

        Re LC bars: Best thing in the world.... leave them alone... at least until maintenance!

          Where are your fats? I think for atkins to be efficient, you need 60% fats...but someone correct me if that's not correct.

          What kind of sugar free oatmeal are you eating...instant packs or the old fashioned type?

              Instant packs of oatmeal. I really haven't been sticking to the phases. Anyone have any ideas what I could eat inplace of meat, eggs or atkin's bars?

                Sorry a little confused. So you have been on atkins since december? Did you complete a clean induction and are now adding more foods to your diet?

                The purpose of the phases is to gradually one at a time add foods back into your diet to see what your body can take in and still loose weight. That way you still have a constant even if slow weight loss.

                Maybe something you are eating now (im betting the bars) is knocking you out of ketosis or causing your stalls.

                hard to tell if your not really following the book.

                    Wow. That's pretty harsh.
                    Nobody "jumps" anybody here.
                    but yeah. Atkins bars are not on the program. And it seems this poster is looking for advice. So advising against Atkins Bars is jumping??? Get a grip! (and I am not jumping anybody)

                      Awesome! restarting induction would DEFINATELY break that plateau! Good luck!!! You should re-read DANDR book as well Always good to brush up. Everytime i read it (3 times now) I find something I missed.

                        There is a vast assortment of food you can eat on induction! Check out the FAQ's forum and you will find the list. But, there is no substitute for reading the book. Knowledge is power!

                          looking at your menu I for one have to say you are not doing Atkins at all. Atkins is a ketogenic plan ( that means we burn fats for fuel both dietary and body storage. just bewing low carb isn't Atkins any more then just being protestant means you are Baptist.

                          your oat meal breakfast as listed is almost fat free

                          your SB lunch is low fat too. so is your dinner

                          so you need to pick a program Atkins south beach or any other and then follow the plan. read DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION the 2002 version cover to cover and see what you should be doing and why. switching all day from Atkins to low fat is messing up your ablitlity to burn body fat.

                          Oat meal with some fat too and others of your proteins and legal loe glycemic carb foods in the meal is a very nice OWL rung 9 or further stages breakfast but not just oatmeal.

                          when you say meat do you mean all animal proteins or beef? you can do a vegetarian Atkins just check our faq for food suggestions from Dr Atkins about it. booca soy foods are allowed.
