  • Menu on Induction

Breakfast: Usually a glass of water and an Atkins B'Fast bar. I go to work at 7:30, and I'm NOT a morning person, So I just grab it and go!

Lunch: Usually a salad, with some grated cheese, and a grilled lean chicken breast. Either that or I have a scrambled egg with cheese, and some Turkey Bacon (about 2-3 strips).

Dinner: My mom usually cooks and she's good about following it. The other night I had 2 small lean beef patties, on a bed of lettuce, with a slice of cheese on each and usually I'll have something like broccoli or green beans on the side.

Snack: I've been being BAD and having a tablespoon of Peanut Butter, BUT I'M STOPPING! Usually my good habit snack is something like Turkey and Cheese rolls or Sugar Free Pudding. I know the cheese is good, but how about the pudding?

Nibbling must end! My boyfriend is a skinny-butt who can eat what he likes, so it's hard not to sneak a pinch off his plate. But I'm going to stop, stop, stop! Slap me if you find I've done it!

Any help is really appreciated! I'm upping my water in-take, so I'm sure that'll definitely help me out.

    Thanks ya'll!

Instead of having an Atkins breakfast bar in the morning, how about having some hard boiled eggs. You can make those in advance so that they're grab & go from the fridge. You can also make bacon in advance to grab.

Lunch sounds good. Try to mix it up a bit though. Take the bun off a cheeseburger & eat it with a salad or celery sticks to scoop potted meat/tuna salad/chicken salad. Make sure you get some variety or you'll get bored fast.

Dinner can be roast beef, veggie & meat pot roast, shrimp, steak, chicken, or whatever meat that isn't coated with noodles or breading. Variety!!! I make fried chicken by crushing up pork rinds, adding seasoning, dipping chicken in egg then in crispy mixture, then frying in olive oil. It's sooooo good, crunchy, and totally allowed.

Sugar free pudding and other Splenda snacks must go during induction. You're allowed 3 packets of "sugar-free" a day and each one counts as 1 carb. Too much "sugar-free" slows down, or stops, weight loss for most. It can also cause more cravings for sugar.

Nibble legal stuff. That's fine. Don't worry about your fat intake. Not enough fat can actually hurt your weight loss. So, forget the lean. Definitely consume at least 64 oz. of water every day. If you buy a large water bottle from your local gas station carry out, drink from that, refill it, and have it with you at all times. You'll find you have no problem getting 64 oz. down with that. Water just goes down faster when you have a disposable water bottle, especially one with a pull up cap.

Good luck! Remember, variety (and exercise)!!!! You're going to be amazed at how the pounds come off if you strictly stick to induction for 2 weeks. It feels so good that it's worth the sacrifice. It gets easier after the first week.

      Re: Menu on Induction

I've done Atkins before and lost 10 lbs in the first two weeks of Induction. But I wasn't eating ENOUGH. So this time, I'm trying to eat more veggies. Which I've accomplished.

I'l get rid of the pudding, and cut back on the B'Fast bars.

      Thanks

You might want to look at the ingredients list of those bars before you eat any more - as far as I know they contain ingredients not allowed on induction like soybeans, nuts and fruit as well as grain starches, so really should be left till you are on the correct level/rung of OWL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Hey Micky...

I think you'll definitely see some better results if you do as you said and get rid of the SF Pudding and other "Frankenfoods" during induction. Other than those items, your menu looks good...so you've definitely got a strong base to work from. Keep us posted and good luck!!

I agree with the pp, and the peanut butter until the nut rung.

Yeah--the sugar free pudding isn't carb free at all--the premade stuff has 6 grams of carbs per serving. If you REALLY must have a "dessert", switch to sugar free jello. True, it's made with aspartame, but I've never had issues with it and I don't eat it often enough for it to be problematic.

I love turkey bacon too, but I realize that I need fat in my diet--so I use bacon grease/fat to fry the turkey bacon. That way you get good flavor, but you can actually eat all the bacon without gagging (I can't handle the huge chunks of fat in real bacon).

I eat 2 hardboiled eggs for breakfast--I'll boil a dozen at a time, that way I can just grab them each morning on my way to work.

Cooking stuff in large batches is the key--chicken breasts, bacon, roast beef, etc. That way you have it already prepared as a snack or to go with your salad. I Always make about 3 servings of these types of food so I don't have to worry about spending time cooking later.

                Re: Menu on Induction

                Thanks you guys!

I switched to Sugar Free Jello Gelatin for my dessert/snacks. I found some yummy Chipotle Cheddar Cheese for snacking that I can put in the fridge at work. I threw out the peanut butter! So yay for me

I checked out the stuff that's in the bars I'm eating. There wasn't any fruit or starch or grains. But there were soybeans. So I'm going to get some eggs tonight, like you all said, and boil them so I can grab them and go. I'll keep the bars in the freezer for a later stage.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions!
