  • Am i eating right?

    here is what i eat . If there is anything wrong, please let me know. I want to do induction the right way.

    10am - 3 boiled eggs with horseradish sauce

    1pm - 1 cucumber with one tsp french dressing(i know yuck, but i like it )

    4pm - 1 chicken breast with 2tbs prego sauce and mozzerela cheese.

    7pm - 1 cup lettuce 1 tbs ranch

    and thats all - I drink only water, and treat myself to 1 glass carbonated water a day.

    You are allowed a cup of veggies from the additional veggies list in addition to the 2 cups of salad veggies. You should try to get a good variety of veggies from both lists to maximize your fiber & nutrient intake for the allowed volume. (Incidently lettuce is very weak in both, and there are much more nutrient packed choices you can fill your cup with.)


    It is useful also to combine in each meal some carbs, fat and protein together.

      Thanks! I will work on adding more vegetables. I have signed up for fitday.com today and noticed i am not taking in barely any carbs. 7-10 at the most.

        It looks a little restricted to me.

        Are you hungry?

        And French dressing is notorious for having a bunch of sugar.

        Have you got the book?

        Eating 4 times a day is probably good.

        Can you eat like that for the rest of your life? Your diet looks to me like someone on a crash diet. Cutting calories and getting miserable in a big hurry to lose some fat. Atkins for me is great because you do not get hungry. Eat enough fat and protein (the eggs are great) with the good lc green vegetables and it is really easy. You may not be getting 1000 calories. You can't do that for long.

          Yes, pick up a copy of the book. I agree about the French dressing...and watch the prego, too--spaghetti sauce usually has AT LEAST 5g carbs per serving.

          It's also a good idea to eat protein, fat, and carbs with each meal, even if it's just a little--this will keep you satisfied and lessen the effect of blood sugar spikes. Check your percentages at www.fitday.com --you should be at 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% carbs. If you're not getting enough fat, add more dressing or more butter to your meals. Make sure you eat fat--atkins is a HIGH FAT diet, and it's the fuel your body will begin to run on.

          I also find that drinking more than 64oz. of water a day REALLY helps! If you drink "other" beverages that are sweetened, even if they're 0 calorie, remember to count each serving as 1g carbs. You're allowed 3 servings of sweetener per day.

            Actually, I wasnt feeling that hungry , maybe the change in diet?

            Thanks for the info on french, i will give that up. Ranch i think sounds the best.

            yes i have the book somewhere, i have been on atkins around 5 years ago, but i think they have an updated book so i will have to get that.

            ok here is my menu from yesterday, please comment..I really want to do this the right way.

            10am - 4 scrambled eggs , (onions, mushrooms, green peppers total 1 cup all together.) 1 tsp butter

            1pm - 1 medium cucumber - 2 cherry tomatoes salt pepper to taste, 1 tsp. ranch

            4pm - 1 cup cauliflour boiled, 1 fried chicken breast sprinkled with maybe 1oz of mozzerella cheese, 1 cup lettuce 2 tbls ranch dressing.

            7pm - can of tuna, tsp mayo, 1 boiled egg

            no food after 7 pm.

            i still feel not enough carbs... what do you think? this is day 4 for me, so i am still having a hard time combining my foods.

              It is a bit hard at first, but you'll get the rhythm of it. I just try to incorporate veggies into foods I already eat--your eggs sound great! Salad is a good option too. Just make sure you're not having more that 3 cups salad vegges OR 2 cups salad and 1 cup "other" veggies per day. Ranch is a great dressing--yum yum, it tastes good, and has fat, with usually only 1 or 2 carbs a serving.

              A GREAT induction snack is pepperoni with mozzarella cheese melted over it. I usually sprinkle oregano over it, too, for a spicier flavor.

              Have you made an account at www.fitday.com ? It will REALLY help you see what your percentages are, and you can do all sorts of cool things like track weight change, calories eaten vs. calories burned, etc.
