  • Day 6....

Hi everyone. I am on day 6 of Atkins...I'm feeling a little confused.
Can I give you a sample day menu and tell me if I'm okay?
    breakfast
    omlette consisting of
    2 eggs
    1 slice boiled ham
    1/2 cup broccoli
    1/2 cup mushrooms

    lunch
3 slices cheese and roast beef rolled in romaine lettuce

    dinner
hamburger patty with cheese and 3/4 brussel sprouts in butter sauce

I am drinking about 70 oz of water a day...trying to make it to 100 but as it is I'm up 3x a night to "weee"...

Should I buy a scale? I haven't because of the fear that I will get discouraged if I don't see weight loss or what I think should be my weight loss but at the same time I want to see the "fruits of my labor"..ya know.....

so far today I have had
    2 slices of bacon
    1 slice of longhorn cheese
    1 slice of pepperjack cheese
    2 slices pepperoni

    lunch will consist of
    a cabbage roll-minus the rice
(basically hamburger and sausage stuffed in a boiled cabbage leaf)

    and dinner SHOULD BE
chili con carne (roast beef and red chili...no flour or sugar involved)
    am I way off base??

    Re: Day 6....

today is day 7 for me...so i'm no expert. it does seem like you may not be eating enough veggies. i try to get all 3 cups a day in at some point. i'll usually have a salad for lunch (2 cups) and a side salad with dinner (1 cup). also...i looked at the brussel sprouts package last night and i think theyre pretty high in carbs. also, you may be eating too much cheese. its hard because you're only allowed 3 oz. i BELIEVE its about an ounce per slice, but please correct me if i'm wrong! I would buy a scale because it really helps keep you going. i know its not too good to weight yourself too soon into it, but i cant help it! i love weigh-ins now cause so far, its always been something good to look at! it really keeps me motivated. good luck!

Your menu looks pretty darned close to me. I think it's FANTASTIC that you are spreading your veggies out. The only thing that I see is that you are eating just a Tad bit over on the "Other veggies" (broccoli, brussel sprouts--which are both EXCELLENT choices for your 1 cup of other veggies). You can have 2 cups of "salad veggies" (which IS NOT JUST LETTUCE) and 1 cup of the "other veggies".

You say "slices" of cheese--if each slice is 1 ounce then you are pushing your limits and should spread those out of the day. But, if on the package 2 slices = 1 ounce serving, then you are okay.

      Great job on the water!

        Re: Day 6....

thanks...I think I do need to rethink my cheese and veggies....more salads, less chedder...
I was kind of going off a friend who said eat cheese or meat when you are hungry, so I'd grab a slice here and there....those were the first couple of days...but slowly have been trying to figure out what I really need to do.
I also had a bag of pork rinds my first day...haven't touched them since...what works best for you when you're hungry but not really....

Looks pretty darn good to me! I like the fact that you have many different veggies listed, and that you spread them out throughout your day. Like Joy said, make sure you're not over on "other" veggies (this is tough! I think this is why I liked OWL rung 1 so much...you can have more "other" veggies!) and spread out your cheese in a day.

It will get easier and easier to drink the water. My water intake varies according to my schedule. If I know I don't have opportunities at work to go potty, I drink less water. I started out forcing myself to drink 64oz. and now I'm up to about a gallon a day.

Keep up the great food choices, and best of success!

Eat only to feed your hunger. ASk yourself, is my stomach grumbling, am I REALLY hungry? If the answer is no, drink some water--sometimes thirst masquerades as hunger and our bodies have trouble distinguishing between the two.

If you really ARE hungry, make a high fat snack with protein. Some of my favorites are:

            Pepperoni, mozzarella, and green pepper
celery with ranch, grilled chicken tenders
egg salad made with mayo and mustard with added celery
home-made beef jerky, slice of cheese, and jicama
