  • Menu for Induction

Ok, I read in the induction forum that it might be useful if I posted my menu as I have been eating for the last 13 days.

    I los 9 lb week 1
Week 2 so far I have lost 0!

Breakfast - 1 omlette (2 eggs, double cream)
Lunch- Lettuce, boiled egg, tuna or ham, cheese and vinegar (splash of)
Dinner - Steak with cream with paprika sauce and beansprouts
    + water water water!

    Is this ok?

I tested urine with ketostix and very dark purple, so am in ketosis.

I know its normal not to lose any in 2nd week, but I feel like I am losing loads. The scales are conspiratating against me!

I notice that I am missing veggies, but I hate all the vegs that are acceptable.

Taking vitamons etc, will this affect weight loss?

You hate ALL 54 veggies? I find that hard to believe. Vegetables are a NON-NEGOTIABLE part of atkins. From veggies you get nutrients and fiber--things that make for a healthy body. Try a new veggie from the list. I recommend jicama (tastes like an unripe pear), daikon (potato substitute), both of these are salad veggies, and you can have 3 cups a day of those. As for other veggies, try pumpkin mixed with cream cheese and cinnamon, spaghetti squash, or make a stir fry with bamboo shoots and water chesnuts. You are limited to 1 cup of "other" veggies per day--if you have a cup of other "veggies" you may have 2 cups (not 3) of the salad veggies.

          Re: Menu for Induction

          Yes
          Salad Vegetables
You can have two to three cups per day of:
alfalfa-sprouts daikon mushrooms arugula endive parsley bokchoy escarole peppers celery fennel radicchio chicory jicama radishes chives lettuce romaine lettuce cucumber mâche sorrel

These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber.

          Other Vegetables
You can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:
artichoke celery-root (celeriac) pumpkin artichoke-hearts rhubarb asparagus chard sauerkraut bamboo-shoots collard-greens scallions dandelion-greens snow-peas bean-sprouts dandelion-greens spaghetti-squash beet-greens eggplant (aubergines) spinach broccoli hearts-of-palm string or waxbeans broccoli-rabe kale summer-squash brussel-sprouts kohlrabi tomatoes leeks turnips cabbage okra water-chestnuts cauliflower onion zucchini (courgettes)

If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
