  • Open for advice....

Hello everyone. I went and bought some ketosis strips today and got a pink reading. So Im not really into ketosis, but I'm on day 6 on induction. I thought I was following everything...so can someone please help me. Maybe I'm not counting the carbs right.

    Breakfast:
4 scrambled eggs with 1 ounce of cheese.

    Lunch:
2 cups of salad with 2 ounces of cheese, a few slices of cucumber, and about 1 tablespoon of crumbled bacon bits (the real bacon kind)

    Dinner:
1 porkchop diced with 1 cup of cooked cabbage...cooked in butter.

    Snacks:
2 little packs of the jello with splenda.

I want to follow the plan by the book....Im just not sure if Im eating too much on some days or not enough. Thanks.

Hey there! I'd cut the jello out, but that's my opinion. Otherwise, the food looks great. You've made some good choices. Hopefully you're mixing it up a bit with the veggies and having stuff other than lettuce and cabbage.

If you're keto sticks turned any color other than the starting color then you're in ketosis. I hate those strips...if you've been eating like you have posted then you're likely in ketosis.

Im not really a veggie eater, so I have been eating mushrooms, a little bit of tomatoes, broccoli, I guess thats really about it. I've been eating a wide variety of poultry and meat though. Let me ask you, about how many eggs can I eat per day? Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.

I don't think there is really a limit. I typically have 2-3 per day.

            Hey there, MsHood.

The bolded part of your post made me chuckle. You sound like me when I first started. I have yet to meet anyone, after almost 5 years of being an Atkineer, that landed themselves in the chubby boat because they were "veggie eaters".

Part of this WOE is relearning to eat and being open and willing to give things a chance.

When I started this WOE, I was determined to give things I swore I'd never eat ever, ever, ever a shot. Once a week I'd pick up a new veggie and I'd make small batches of the veggie several different ways (Thank goodness for the recipe databases!) until I found a way that me and my family could eat it.

I'm with Higgies here. Your menu looks pretty darn good - except the jello.

Remember that a large egg is about .6 grams of carb.

Mix it up and keep it up!

            I wish you success.

Just a question real quick....why do you say stay away from the sugar free Jello. I thought it was ok if it was the packs made with splenda. Just asking. Thanks. And you are right Brook...thanks for all of the advice. I do need to make changes...Im trying thanks to both of you.

                Re: Open for advice....

Many people find that if they eat sweet desserts and snacks during induction their sweet tooth never goes away so by not eating many sweet things in the 14 days they can dimish any cravings they might get.

Dr Atkins suggested that desserts should be an occasional event - not an everyday habit!

Also you can only have up to 3 servings of any sweetener per day!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
