  • Don't cook!

I really don't cook or eat "regular" meals.I've just been eating no carbs.Although it's never the same,a typical day might look like this.
AM- riccotta cheese w/splenda,cinnamon,heavy cream. Coffee w/cream/splenda.
    midday- burger w/cheese,mayo,mustard,onion.
    PM-chicken or chix salad.
I'm really not big on counting calories or sticking to anything strictly other than just limiting my carb intake.I actually lost 5lbs the 1st week, then it all came back this week, ouch, that really hurt!!!!Ready to give up! Suggestions?

what stage are you on? I think riccota does have carbs and is not on induction.

They say you don't have to count calories or quanties but for me to be successful I do have to limit mayo, dressing, cheese and cream.

Are you keeping your splenda packets to just 3 a day? They do have carbs and calories and I can not loose when I use them.

What about the cheese the book says to just have 3-4 oz a day, and you are only suppose to have 2-3 tbsp of cream a day.

Yes... ricotta is a fresh cheese (I believe), so not for induction. You need to be on the dairy rung of OWL for this.

At first glance I'd say you need more veggies. You're supposed to have a total of three cups in induction (two of salad and one can be of induction legal 'other veggies').
Also... you haven't put quantities so it's hard to say, but... are you eating enough? You should eat above your BMI, or your body might go into starvation mode and slow your metabolism down.
You can keep track of your foods using fitday http://www.fitday.com/ It can be a big help.

        Re: Don't cook!

Hi again Rock! I agree with Sally. You definitely need more veggies as per Atkins induction which is 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup other veggie. In addition, I believe you are eating far too little calories! While calories don't matter so much this way of eating, if you eat too few you will not lose weight because your body thinks you are starving it, therefore it will hold on to the weight. Limiting carbs the way you have been is also not recommended. No-one should eat under 1300 - 1500 calories a day, no-one!

The point is to do the clean induction with 20 carbs per day (you are not having nearly 20 at this time) and then re-introduce foods one step at a time. The Ricotta is Rung 2!

Hi Rock, If you are a no cook person then maybe you might want to try some new foods you maybe haven't thought of before.

If you like sweet things for breakfast then maybe you could try the mock danish. There is a bit of cooking but it is all done in the microwave. This uses cream cheese and is really yummy and only takes about 5 minutes to make once you get the hang of it. That with some coffee will be a better carb count choice right now.

I agree with the other ladies about adding veggies. Not only will they help fill you up so you aren't hungry, they help you reach your calorie needs, and give you very much needed vitamins and minerals. A small salad with your burger will help that out.

At dinner try adding new induction approved veggies to your meal. Like frozen veggies that can be zapped in the microwave with little time and effort. Broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, brussel sprouts..... all of these options and tastes make a wonderful meal without all of the pots and pans.

I hope you get over your weight loss slump soon.

after almost 5 months on Atkins and over 63 lbs down! Watch for updates!
