Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

  • Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

    I was losing until I decided to switch my artificially sweetened drinks for pure water. That's really the only change. I don't have a lot of time to cook because I am a teacher and have to eat when I can get around to it.

    Breakfast:
    3 slices of bacon

    Lunch:
    Double cheaseburger at mcdonald's with one slice of cheese
    Side Salad with Ranch (2g of carbs per serving)-1 serving

    Snack:
    String cheese

    Dinner:
    Wings with Frank's Red Hot

    Snack:
    low carb cheesecake sweetened with splenda


    Breakfast:
    Chicken in EVOO and lemon juice

    Lunch:
    Chicken salad (lettuce tomatoes and cheese) with ranch (about 4 carbs worth)

    Snack:
    String Cheese

    Dinner:
    Turkey Burger cooked in EVOO

    Dessert:
    Low Carb Cheesecake

    The diet seems pretty good, it's hard to say for sure without the quantities though. Getting the right amount of veggies is so important so try to make sure your getting only 2 cups of the lettuce vegetables and 1 cup from the other catagory.

    If I were going to change anything I'd say try to cutting out the cheesecake or the McDonalds, my wife can't seem to eat there, I SWEAR they must put filler in their burgers or something.

    My other thought is perhaps you aren't getting the nutrients your body needs and it's reacting to that. Are you taking your vitamins every day?

      Maybe it's the vitamins. I'll go back to taking those tomorrow. I completely for got the past couple of days. I'll cut out mcdonald's. Let you know how that goes. I don't think i'm getting more than two cups of salad because they are both the side salads and one I just added chicken to the side salad.

        I see from your siggy that you've only been on Atkins for 5 days and have already lost 7lbs! That's pretty danged good, in my book.Especially seeing as how you only had 32lbs to lose in the first place.Way to go! However, not only would it be unhealthy to keep losing weight at that speed, but it would be unreasonable to expect it.

        As for your menus, I'm willing to bet you are going over your allowed amount of cheese with that cheesecake on top of the cheese you are eating throughout the day. More than likely, you're also going over the sweetener limit, as well. Induction is a time to clobber the bejeebers out of that sweet tooth so that you won't find yourself in a full carb frenzy later on in your WOE when you are out of ketosis and relying on self control.

        I know you are a teacher and busy as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest, but you need to find the time to prepare and eat an adequate breakfast. Three pieces of bacon doesn't cut it, IMHO. Breakfast is the meal that helps kickstart the metabolism and you want that baby running full throttle. During the weekend, try to prepare lots of legal meals and snacks for those days you just don't have time to cook a full meal. Prepare a sack lunch the night before work and grab that sucker before running out the door the next morning.

        Ham, cheese and lettuce wraps make great on the go sandwiches. You can cut up some celery sticks, bag'em up along with those little Gladware cups of ranch or blue cheese dressing. Take tossed salad in a bowl from home. The Atkins WOL is your oyster, you just gotta be willing to take the time to shuck it.

        Anywho, hope this helps, congrats on your current loss and good luck for those to come.

          I'm not sure where you live, but if you have access to a Carl's Jr or In-N-Out, they make really good burgers without all the fillers.

          I would also recommend adding something more to your breakfast. Eggs? Veggies? Something else?
