  • First Day Menu

    Hi, I just started the induction phase and would appreciate if someone would look at my menu and let me know if anything needs to be changed at all.

    Thanks!!!

    Start Date: 2-1-07
    SW: 160
    CW: 160
    GW: 130

    Breakfast: 2 eggs
    1 cup venison suasage

    Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna
    1 tbs mayo
    1/4 cup cheese
    2 cups leaf lettuce

    Snack: coffee (8oz) and cream
    1 venison pepper stick

    Dinner: 6 chicken wings (cooked in butter)
    1/2 cup fauxtatoes (4.4 carbs I think)

    Snack Mock Danish (2 oz cream cheese, 1 pack splenda, 1 egg, vanilla)

    around 65 oz of water.

    I cant see much wrong, Daisy, as long as you are sticking with the limit on cheese (3-4 ounces) and your 1/4 cup of cheese contains no more than 2 ounces and assuming you havent added any cream cheese to your fauxtatoes.
    If it is pre-shredded cheese you might want to check there are no added starches which many manufacturers add to keep the shreds from sticking together. Most of us tend to grate our own from block cheese to be sure.

    Try to have some veggies with each meal if you can to spread out any possible blood sugar spikes. Maybe also try to have some other 'salad' veggies than plain old lettuce which can be nothing but 'chewy water' nutritionally-speaking.

    Talking of water - you need to be drinking 64 fluid ounces per day plus another 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose.

      Thanks for the reply. I will have to check my shredded cheese to see if there is any starch in it....and 1/4 cup is one once. is there anything worng with staying at about 12-15 carbs for the day? I find that once I eat my 3-4 oz of cheese and my 3 cup salad/vegetables I am left with just meat and eggs as my choice, and I have plenty plenty of that during the day also.

      Also, you said something about the lettuce I'm eating. I got two bunches so far. One is Romaine and the other looks like Romaine, but isn't. It has darker green leaves. I haven't been eating any iceberg lettuce though. Does that sound good?

      I cut sugar out of my diet on monday and started atkins on thursday. According to the ketone sticks, I am already in moderate ketosis, does this sound right?

        Good for you for choosing a darker leaved lettuce, which as far as I know will contain more nutrients than the paler ones like iceberg.
