    Because I'm Doing That Tonight...but This Is A Typical Day For Me On The Beach And I Was Wondering How Much Of It Has To Change....

    B--1/4 Cup Of Egg Beaters
    8 Oz Glass Of V8 Spicy
    2 Slices Of Cann Bacon

    S 1 0z Cheese Stick

    Lunch Salad With Steak Or Chicken Usually

    Snack....15 Almonds Or Cheese Stick

    Dinner Usually Steak/chicken/ Ground Turkey/ Or Turkey Saug...with Salad....
    Sweet Treat....s/f Jello With Dollop Of S/f Cool Whip...and About 5 Walnuts To Top It Off...

    Drinks Usually Goes Something Like ....coffee In The Am...water All Day....diet Coke W/dinner....

    What Can I Do To Convert This To Atkins???

    No Egg Beaters, go for the real thing
    No V8

    No almonds for the first two weeks...they are allowed later in OWL

    I'd drop the S/F jello. No Cool whip, but you can make your own whipped cream and sweeten with splenda.

    It's recommended to drop the soda and coffee...

    So as you can see, pretty big difference. Check out the acceptable foods list and the induction rules in the FAQ forum.

      Replace the egg beaters with real eggs, take out the V8, take out the almonds and walnuts during induction...

      By the book - eliminate s/f jello (unless making your own), eliminate caffiene (so coffee and diet coke, unless the coffee is decaf).

      I'm *NOT* saying to do this AT ALL - I still drink coffee, and have every time I've done Atkins, I ate the jello the first 2 times, not this time, I think it's just a matter of I don't remember to make it in advance, and I drank diet coke all previous times, and occaissionally this time.

        Hey frenchfri! saw your post in the other thread about the differences etc. I think its great you are educating yourself on the differences between the two ways of life. I know I looked at SB for a long while before I started Atkins. You didnt mention it in the other thread, nor here, are you thinking of switching and thats the reason for the interest or just simple curiosity? Either way, best of luck.

          NO V8/EGG BEATERS/ ALMONDS/ COFFEE/ DIET COKE/// FREAKING JELLO///NO COOL WHIP BUT I CAN MAKE MY OWN WHIP CREAM...WHAT GOOD IS THAT WHEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO PUT IT ON...LOLLLLLLL......... I HAVE TO GET THE BOOK AND REALLY MULL THINGS OVER... YOU GUYS ARE GREAT THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT.....

            Uhm. Almonds are just the first couple weeks. I believe South Beach has a phase similar to induction where most of these things aren't allowed either...

              Hate to disagree with folks, but I see nothing wrong with Egg Beaters.

              The V8 is out due to having carrots which aren't allowed during induction. Nuts are for later, too.

              The jello (homemade) & soda/coffee (supposed to be caffeine free) are allowed but only 2-3 servings per day for artifical sweeter, a soda = 1, each packet =1.

              You have to count net carbs (total carbs less fiber) in EVERYTHING, and have 20 or fewer g/day for the induction phase.

              www.fitday.com can help you keep track.

              My question is, what's in your salad and how much of each ingredient? And do you use dressing?

                Wow, I guess I'm on crack. I thought egg beaters had added sugar to make up for taking out the fat.

                    I'm not saying egg beaters are bad...but I'd say the added fat would be good for the first weeks of induction. Why mess with one of nature's most perfect foods. IMHO

                      I am with Higgies! Eggs are a wonderful thing and a great balance of fat/protein etc.

                        I agree - a 1/4 cup of eggbeaters according to their manufacturer contains 6 grams of protein, 1 gram of carbs and no fat so if using it do make sure you add fat to get your 'ideal' ratios of 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs at each meal.

                            I am sure that helped to up the fat percentage but maybe would need checking in fitday.com to make sure.

                              WOW THERE IS A LOT TO THIS DIET MORE SO THAN ANY OTHER I HAVE BEEN ON...COUNTING NET CARBS?? NOT THAT I'M LAZY ABOUT SUCH THINGS BUT JUST DONT HAVE THE TIME TO DO THAT ALL DAY...WELL PICKED UP THE BOOK AND THATS AS FAR AS I GOT FOR NOW....

                              MY SALAD CONSIST OF ROMAINE LETT, MUSHROOMS..BROC....BLACK OLIVES...TOMATOES...ONIONS...NO DRESSING I USE WHAT EVER MEAT I HAVE TO GO WITH MY SALAD AS THE EXTRA FLAVOR OH AND SOMETIMES I THROW TABISICO SAUCE ON TOP IF ITS REALLY DRY...I USUALLY CUT MY TOMATOES REAL SMALL AND WHAT EVER JUICE I GET FROM DOING THAT I THROW ON MY SALAD SO ITS NEVER REALLY DRY.....

                              BY MONDAY I SHOULD KNOW BETTER ABOUT WHAT I'M GONNA DO...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TALK WITH ME..KAREN
