    Re: My menu

Hi there - First, induction is a 14 day process...you can't tell on day 4 if it is working or not based on the scale. Second, the ketostix aren't always 100% accurate....that said, I see a few things in your menu that are problematic.

    1) Caffeine - this affects blood sugar and can lead to feeling "hungry" when you otherwise might not...which might lead to overeating of even "legal" foods.
    2) Sweeteners - You are using your daily LIMIT of 3 in one cup of coffee first thing in the morning...when you drink that diet coke you are adding more sweetener servings going over your limit. This will cause some people to not lose. In addition to that, diet coke contains aspertame which causes problems for some people and was not recommended by Dr. A.
    3) Cottage cheese is NOT an induction acceptable food. That comes back during the dairy rung (rung #2)
    4) and you said this one yourself - WATER...64 oz. PLUS 8 oz. for each 25 pounds you need to lose is a good rule of thumb.

If you haven't already, please read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) - something in another post of yours that I read leads me to think you may have an earlier version of the book. Also, the stickies in the induction forum on this board have lots of useful info. Also, if you aren't already, check out www.fitday.com - an account is FREE and it is an excellent tool for tracking your food intake (and weights and activities, too) and making sure your percentages are proper - you're aiming for 65% of your calories from fat, 30% from protein, and 5% from carbs.

Any other questions, just ask! Best wishes for success!

      Re: My menu

I agree 100% with Kylie. Spot on advice. One thing you might also want to watch out for...you said large salad. If you're talking about a salad the size of one of those salads you get in a restaurant, they can sometimes contain way over the 3 cups of lettuce and veggies. So watch that you're keeping your veggie portions in check.
