  • 7 lbs - 3 weeks

Hi... I would really appreciate anyone who checks my FitDay link, and can maybe tell me why I've only lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks (all Induction).

I think eating more than 1200 cals a day is essential - some days I have eaten a bit less, like in the 900's.

    Thanks for any advice/comments

why dont u try replacing either lunch or dinner with a Advantage shake. I did that and stopped eating after 6 and the weight is finally coming off.

Thanks for that - I hope they are filling!

      Btw, I don't stop eating till about 8.30, and get to bed between 11 & 12. I know Oprah doesn't eat after 7 p.m.

      Thanks again

No problem. Its very hard the first two days but when you see those pounds coming off you just dont crave food anymore. Oh and if were you I would try to have a big breakfast. That helps and if you feel hungry have a big cup of tea with half and half or whatever you use in your tea. I am soo full by the time its 7. I know most people wont agree wtih this but when you arent losing any weight its very discouraging.

Thanks but it's my 25th day (still induction - thought the first rung of OWL of Veggies would make my weight loss slower, but have been told they won't slow it down). I just want max weight loss over the next 2 and a half weeks as I'll be walking my daughter down the aisle at her wedding and want to look as good as I can!)

I don't have a big brekkie, so you may be right there - I only have 2 rashers of bacon. But I have an omelette of 2 eggs and slice of cheese about an hour later. And a cup of coffee and small amount of cream around the same time. Soon after, it's lunch time, but I really don't eat anything then - guess I should work on that! But you suggest an Advantage drink. I think those bars have a bad name in some way (hidden ingredients) - I read it in another forum - so I will go and have a quick look to see if I can find it again. The shakes sound nice so hopefully they're different.

If I don't get back re the bars within a few minutes, it's because one of my favourite t.v. shows just started but I'll hurry

Yes, the bars have hidden ingredients which shouldn't be eaten until certain rungs in OWL have been reached. Not sure about the shakes - haven't had time to check them out, but will later tonight, or tomorrow morning.

My t.v. show is starting right now so better fly!!

I would warn against the shakes as well. Those do have the reputation of stalling most people. Everyone's different, but it's likely they would be a problem. Plus, you probably won't be satisfied.

You're making some good choices in the types of foods you've been eating. So good for you there! Looking at your fitday though it really seems like you might not be eating enough veggies. I would highly recommend eating the 2 cups of salad-type veggies and th 1 cup of other veggies more frequently than the 3 cups of salad veggies. There are a lot more nutrients and fiber in those other veggies.

You are correct, you should be eating around 1400 calories per day. Just try to be consistent there. You're doing great, you're down 8lbs!

One last thing....are you exercising? That's a required part of this WOL too!

                  Hi,

I am new (day 1 today), but from what I read on the board anything fake like shakes or bars should be avoided, especially during induction. I think I saw them called Franken Foods cause they are full of chemicals!

She is already stalling on the weight loss so how is that any different from trying out a shake and seeing if that works?

To each his own, I was just going by the book. I am sure it is a personal decision.

                        Re: 7 lbs - 3 weeks

Hello and thanku all for replying - I believe my weight loss could be better, as I was expecting to lose 2 kg or 4 lbs per week, which would mean by now (3.5 weeks), I'd have lost 7 kgs or 14 lbs. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.

I do exercise higgies, but not every day. Some days are very sedentary, and about 3 - 4 times a week, I go for fast walks. So I guess I should do something every day. I may even check out the gym prices here. The daughter I am walking down the aisle goes to the gym every morning before work, and she is getting a little TOO slim, so it must work!! No, I couldn't go with her because she goes to a gym in the city and VERY early in the morning! But there is one within walking distance from me.

**Any particular equipment best for weight loss, higgies, rather than muscle building etc.???**

I will start eating some different veggies today, rather than always lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers.

Well, time for breakfast now........ thanks again!!

                          Re: 7 lbs - 3 weeks

I really think it depends on the person. I know there are some food nazis in here. However, I think if you are sucessful in whatever little tricks you learn along the way then there is nothing wrong with it. I found the bars DID stall me but the shakes were a tremendous help. I was easily losing 5 pounds a week. I did find them to be filling and very handy. I used them once a day with a couple of hard boiled eggs for one meal.I would not have been able to achieve what I wanted to in the amount of time I did without them. I tried NOT using them for several weeks but was not getting the results I wanted. So what is right for one person may not be right for another. You have to keep trying until you find the thing that works for you. I have learned all sorts of tricks, tips and recipes here to help me thru.

I definately think the problem is you aren't getting enough calories. I do the SAME thing. If I do not have enough calories, I will definately stall.

You should aim to eat at or around your BMR. This diet causes you to stay full b/c of the high fat..so I find myself reminding myself to eat!! LOL Fitday is really helpful to me making sure that my ratios are around where they should be and I am getting enough calories for the day. Everyone is different but personally they ahve to all be almost perfect or I won't lose. Maybe you are the same way...just a thought.

I hope this helps and I hope you were able to figure out what it was that was causing you to lose slowly.

Only last possiblitity, maybe you are just a slow loser?? That's always a possibility, too.

Hey Aussie! sorry I missed this thread for a while.

Walking is exercise, so you're doing great. When I was trying to lose a lot, I was exercising 6 days a week (lifting 3 times/running 3 times). Muscle toning is a good idea for anyone. It's not necessarily about building muscle, but if you can reshape that muscle it will typically look better as your fat melts away. It's also good at helping fill out where loose skin may develop. It's not the only thing to do though, and it doesn't have to be weights. You can do things like lunges, squats, modified push-ups, crunches, etc. All of those things will help the muscle toning.

For cardio, fat burning, or those types of things a lot of people really seem to like the elliptical trainers. They are low inpact, so they won't hurt your knees and you can get a good heart rate going. I jog outside or on the treadmill, but I really shouldn't. I just feel it's the best workout for me. Bad knees!!!
