  • First Day Menu....

    Please could someone have a quick look over to see if I am on the right track?

    To take with me to work I have:

    Breakfast- 2 x Bacon, egg & sausage meat 'muffins'

    Lunch- 1 cup of chopped cucumber, 1 cup of chopped lettuce. Mixed together with a blob of mayo, black pepper and a tiny sprinkle of chilli flakes. To go with this I have 2 very small slices of something I made today:egg, cream, mushroom & sausage meat, baked in oven.
    To make this I used the left overs from the muffin making and added two mushrooms & a little cream.

    Snack- 2 x hard boiled eggs.

    Lots of water!

    No idea what to have for dinner yet though!
    That's a not a problem though, I can work on that through the day.

    Does this all sound ok?

    Seems to be very few vegetables lol....never thought I would say that!

    Looks pretty good. It's making me hungry, so that's always a good sign.

    Yup, you can have one more cup of veggies tonight, either salad or "other" as your other two servings for the day have been salad veggies. How many mushrooms were in your lunch? Make sure you remember to count those.

    I'm glad to see you've had lots of water! How much is "lots"? Make sure you're getting at least 64oz. and then some.

    You might want to be careful about the sausage and bacon--they can contain added sugars and nitrates (used in curing). These products also can contain lots of salt. Make sure you're not overdoing it on processed meats, and make sure you drink lots of water if you're going to eat them.

    You should try plugging your menu into www.fitday.com to see if your percentages are 65% fat, 5% carbs, and 30% protein. It's a free site, and it really helps you stay on track.

      You into Monday already? Still Sunday night here so I'm trying to get all prepared.

      I see what you mean about the processed meats....I think that may be something I will struggle with...we'll see.
      I used two small button mushrooms in my baking today.
      Water wise....I have 500ml bottles, so will take three to work with me and down them. Then pick up some when I'm at home. I think I will be spending quite some time 'watering the daisies' at work tommorow!
      The correct amount of veggies and their carb content is gonna be tricky I think!
      I signed up for fit day but didn't have my correct weight to input, so will do that in the morning when I start my Atkins journey!

      I'm very excited, yet nervous that I will cock it all up!!

      Trying to get my hands on the 2002 edition of the book at the moment...thought I had it but it seems to be hiding somewhere!

      Anyway.thanks for looking it over for me.

        Oh, it's still Sunday here. I thought you had eaten this today already...duh, didn't realize you were planning ahead. Even bigger kudos to you, then!

        During induction, you don't need to "count carbs" on veggies. You will only be eating 3 cups salad veggies OR 2 cups salad and 1 cup "other" veggies. You still need to account for them, but your main focus is to make sure you get those three cups in, not the individual carb counts for each cup.

        Here's the list of acceptable foods until you find your book. If it's not on the list, don't eat it!

          You have done great btw! Looking fantastic!

          It's reading these forums and seeing the before and after pics that have really inspired me. Also made me realise that I'm not alone and it is totally possible to change my weight.
