  • Gaining! My menu

Today marks the end of my third week on induction. After the first two weeks I was down 10 lbs. I decided to do extended induction for another week or two before moving to OWL.

I weighed in this morning... and Ive gained 3 lbs. back this week.

I didnt eat anything different, been drinking my water, and doing excersise. (cardio every day, weights every 2 days)

Now I expected a "stall" after the first 2 weeks like many have talked about.. and was okay with that because I know its normal for our bodies to re-adjust, but Im NOT okay with gaining.

I thought i would post my menu and get some opinions. Any help appreciated.

Breakfast- Meat- 2 slices of bacon OR 1 slice turkey ham
    Eggs- 2 hardboiled
( I did have a mock danish one morning)

Lunch- 1 or 2 Slices of meat- Either chicken breast, steak or pork chop
Veggies- 1 cup mushrooms or 1 small bell pepper w/ 1 tsp blue cheese (and yes I checked the label on the dressing)

Snack (somedays) 1 or 2 oz. cheese
( I also had a half of a handful of pork rinds on 2 days, but that was during the 1st wk of induction, not this past week where the gain occured- )

Dinner- Meat- Either hamburger patty, steak, chicken, or pork chop.
Sometimes I will melt 1-2 oz of cheese on top depending on if I havent used my 4 oz. daily limit
Veggies- 1 cup mushrooms sauted in butter, or 1 cup lettuce or radishes
also 1 cup of cabbage, or spaghetti squash, or asparagus

So I get my 3 cups of veggies a day, dont go over my 4 oz cheese ( I usually dont even get to 4 total) and use real butter on items.

I havent eaten anything not on the allowed list.

Im probably going to move on to OWL- Ive seen that suggested to jump start loss again.. however Ive seen that suggested for "stalls" not for "gain". Im afraid if I add in more carbs I will continue to gain, because it seems like Im not doing something right.

P.S. - Its not T.O.M.. and as far as measuring- I have not lost any additional inches either.

Again, I was expecting a stall but not a gain. Any suggestions? You guys have been great so far, and Im not giving up.. just need a little feedback.

    Thanks!

    Re: Gaining! My menu

Your menu looks good. Have you tried putting things into Fitday - http://www.fitday.com/ - to check your numbers? Are you eating to satisfy your hunger only? Even if we eat low carb, we still have to control portions to fit our hunger and no more. You might try cutting down the cheese... which is known to cause many people problems.

Having said that... it's also true that stalls and small gains are very usual. Your body sometimes just needs to adjust and learn that you mean business. When it does, you'll probably have a nice whooshie (sudden loss). Here's a link to a cool piece by Moochiecat: "Weight Loss is not Linear" http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....read.php?t=5090

It may be possible that your body is holding water. Perhaps from eating too much salt or seasons. Or like sallyseachange said, your body could be resisting, and soon you will have a nice loss in pounds or inches.
Keep exercising, I read that it can help get through a stall and help with a gain.
Dont get frustrated. Hang in there!!
