  • Pls. review today's menu : )

I have been on/off the atkins WOL for acouple of years, with some success, and lots of failure. I have made my mind up that enough is enough. I am putting my all into this and think that this time around is going to be the one. Anyways, I spent around 5 hours lastnight cooking all of my food so that I would be prepared for this week. Below is todays menu and would like someone to review it for me. Thank you so much to all.

    Kelly

Breakfast: 1/2 egg omelet w/ peppers, onions, mushroom & some cheddar cheese. 1/2 egg omelet w/ 1 slice canadian bacon and some cheddar cheese.
(for the egg omelet, I mixed about 1 tsp heavy cream in them)

Mid-Morning Snack - Cucumber slices (3-4 slices) w/ tuna salad (tuna, celery, onion, egg, mayo) and about 1/2 tsp of diced tomato.

Lunch - Hamburger(ground beef,1/2 tsp onion, cheddar cheese, spices) w/ slice of bacon on a Atkins Revolution Roll w/ 1 tsp Heinz one carb ketchup.

Mid Day snack - Cucumber slices(3-4 slices) w/ tuna salad (tuna, celery, onion, egg, mayo) and about 1/2 tsp of diced tomato.

Dinner - Steak with some butter on top, with mushrooms, peppers, onions.

Late snack if needed: Could be any one of these things, steamed shrimp, chicken with some hot sauce, celery stalk with tuna salad.

I am also drinking about 100- 150 oz of water.

Thanks for looking. I am hoping to get a good report.

    Hey Kelly!

Good for you for commiting yourself to this!

As far as your menu goes, the food choices look great. Without knowing the full quantities your consuming, it's tough to say if you need to cut down or anything, but if you are eating until satisfied and not stuffing yourself, then that's the main objective. You might want to add more of the salad veggies. It's important to get your veggies for the nutrients and the induction guidelines are 3 cups of salad veggies per day OR 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup of the other veggies. You might also consider dropping the one carb Ketchup. I've heard some people can stall on it. It might not be that way for you...wait and see I guess.

Otherwise, great job! Are you exercising??

Thank you for your reply. I am not much of a salad person so I thought that I would incorporate the veggies in my cooking. I will have to change somethings up on that.

I do not exercise regularly, but I do go out to ride my horse about 2 times a week(will increase with nicer weather) and I walk my dog acouple times as well. I am always running around in my house doing wash(I have 3 sets of stairs to climb), and cleaning.
I might have to add something in as that doesn't seem like enough now that I look at it. I also got a AB lounge II and plan on doing that like 3X a week.

      Does that sound good?

It's important to get exercise in this WOL. Dr. Atkins said 30 minutes a day or so. Of course running around the house is certainlky exercise at times!

Salad veggies aren't necessarily "salads". I believe your cucumbers are considered salad veggies. Also spinach, so if you like to cook that up or whatever. Keep us posted on your progress!

Your menus sound well-planned and tasty!! When can we call round to eat? LOL
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thank you Eliz for your comments and praise. It is good to know (and it makes me feel good too) that I am off to the right start this time. Even if it is day one of my restart and I am happy to say, all is well and no cheats or temptations to deal with.

              Have a great day,

              Kelly
