  • Please review my menu.

    Having previously said that I could not go on the atkins diet due to funding, I've just recently come about someone elses menu on here, sorry for stealing it, it just looked easy and affordable. Anyways would this menu here be ok for the induction?

    8:00 AM
    2 eggs
    Bacon


    11:00 AM
    Lettuce 50g
    Cucumber 50g
    100g chicken


    3:00 PM
    1 pack pork rind


    7:00 PM
    Lettuce 50g
    100g chicken
    1 egg

    Hi there Danny,

    I'd say that looks pretty good - you've pretty much got your 3 cups veggies there. I'd recommend a denser veg for dinner like broccoli or courgette to give you more nutrients and fibre.

    Just incase people were wondering 50g lettuce = 0.91 cup. I used Gourmet Sleuth - which is great for figuring out these things for specific foods.

    Make sure the pork rind and the bacon don't have added sugar or carbs.

    I think you could proably eat more in terms of calories and added fats - add mayonaise, cook with oils and butter to boost your intake.

    I am also in the Uk and found it harder to do this diet and the various reciepes on this site going by weight. I bought some US cup measures which can make life easier - you ca get some for around £5 in kitchen shops.

      Hi Danny
      Your veggies and meat look fine to me (if a bit boring!!) but where is the fat?

      The bacon might have enough but make sure the chicken is skin-on or add some oil/fat dressing to the meal.

      Baarb's suggestion of getting a set of measuring cups is a good one (thanks Baarb ) but till you get some you can use Soliwit's great chart that she worked out with weights of full cup/half cup/etc of the veggeis on the allowed list (thanks again soliwit )
