  • Menu advice please

I'd like some feed back on my menu please, if I am going too far off the path at least it's early days and I can get on track. Thanks in advance.

    Yesterday's menu

    Upon waking
    Decaf coffee

    Breakfast/brunch
I start work at 12pm so I can't have lunch
Omlette made with 2 large eggs, water, salt and pepper and two slices of bacon

    Dinner
Salad made with 1 cup lettuce, 1 tomato, small amount cucumber, grated cheese and 1tsp mayo

According to fitday the above amounts to:54% fat, 6% carbs, 40% protein

    Today's menu

    Upon waking
    decaf coffee

    Breakfast
scrambled eggs made with 2 large eggs, 1 floz cream, salt and pepper, 4 slices of thinly sliced, lean bacon

    Lunch/afternoon break
It's a bit awkward getting a proper break in work at the moment but I am going to take a light snack with me and see if I can get time to eat it about mid-afternoon
tuna and mayo wrapped in lettuce leaves.

    Dinner
    Medium sized grilled steak, asparagus

According to fitday the above amounts to:60% fat, 1% carbs, 39% protein

I drink lots of water, 4 tumbler size glasses in the evening and 2-3 500ml bottles during the day 1 of which is sparkling water and approx 2 cups of green tea.

You do need to try and get that snack in in the afternoon! it will be much better for you if you do.

Could you add some mushrooms or something to your brunch? I'm just a bit concerned your not getting enough veggies in and the 1% on your fitdays telling me that too.

your percentages should read 65% fat 5% carbs 30% protein

Not enough veggies - right, ok that's not too bad and I know you are right about the afternoon snack, 7 hours is too long to go between meals I shall take a break, thank you for the swift response and your help

          Hi Jules
I wouldn't be too manic about your percentages...one thing that's important is to get your net count of veggie carbs in every day. In Fitday, once you've entered all your foods, if you look at the box at the top of your page, where it shows a pie chart, you'll see a total amount for Carbs, and just beneath it, Fiber. Make sure you're looking here for your carb count....you subtract the fiber from the carbs to get your net carbs. In Induction you need to be getting 12 - 15 net carbs from veggies alone! Try playing with it and see.
The other thing I would suggest is to get yourself a water bottle that holds 32 oz..much easier to track your water intake.
          Good luck!

and as your a brit, in response to the post above, try getting a bottle that holds a litre... 2 of those is your 64 oz, so if you get just slightly over that ya should be good, you can never have too much water!!

I'm such a dunce....I didn't look to see where Jules is from! Just assumed the States, and as I'm in Canada we use metric as well, so there I was trying to figure out how many ounces she should have for a water bottle, when I could have said a 1 litre bottle in the first place!

Also, make sure you're eating enough. Your first menu seemed very little quantitywise to me. If you eat too little, your body will go into starvation mode and your weight loss will slow or stop completely.

I am getting there I ate very well today and I'm feeling full, I think it made a difference that I managed to take in a small snack to work today. That's what's amazing about this diet, it's difficult to actually eat ENOUGH calories in a day, I'm sure practising with different menus will make a difference.
                    Thanks again
