  • New and need advice!

So I am restarting today due to a weekend of mistakes!! Too many graduation events has led me to go back to Induction. I wanted to know if this sounds ok and what do I need to add/subtract from this to make it work. Also, I found some sugar free candies that seem to curb my sweet tooth and need to know if they are ok. They have 13g carbs and 13 g sugar alchohols. From what I have read that takes me to zero, right? Please advise!

Breakfast: Atkins Shake (I REALLY have no time to cook anything in the morning...I have heard this might stall me, but I certainly think its better than cereal or toast!!)

Lunch: Ceasar Salad with Blackened Chicken

    Snack: Celery with Tuna

Dinner: Bunless Swiss and Mushroom Burgers

Drinking LOTS of water and swimming everday for about 1/2 hour.

    Hey there!

There is a theory with which I happen to agree that says that if the sugar alcohols don't cause you any gastrointestinal distress, then you are digesting them and therefore, must count the carbs. Thirteen carbs for a few measly pieces of candy just doesn't seem worth it to me. Ditch the candy. There are much healthier and tastier ways to spend 13 carbs.

Not having time to cook breakfast in the morning just means that you're going to have to prepare the night before. Leftovers from supper make an aweome breakfast. Forget the idea that breakfast has to be bacon and eggs. Once you learn to think outside the box, the possibilities are endless! Those shakes cause issues with nearly everyone who drinks them. Besides that, they aren't on the list of Induction appropriate foods. Later in the plan, you have the option of making shakes and smoothies with healthier ingredients than that crud in a can.

Good on ya for all the water! I think that's one of the hardest habits to form when doing Atkins and you are doing yourself a huge favor by forming it early.

Whoo hoo, on the exercise! Swimming is an awesome way to get a good workout.
Doin' Atkins: Cuz my hips don't lie either.

      Great advice here from Paula

I am an advocate of planning ahead to make sure I have something for breakfast ready to grab and go as cooking a meal first thing is not on in our house!!

Lately I have been making two crustless quiches instead of just one for an evening meal, so I have one 'spare' to cut into slices for breakfast or when out and about. It takes no more oven time and just a little longer in the kitchen grating cheese and chopping up cooked bacon and veggies to make two at one time.

Another quick and easy breakfast choice for me is to always have sliced ham and cheese in the fridge so I can quickly slap one slice of each together and roll it up for an easily prepared meal or snack. A couple of those plus a few cherry tomatoes is a great balanced breakfast meal for me.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
