    Hi Riley!

Welcome to the board! I think you're off to a good start!

I added up your Net Carbs (guessing at amounts) and you're at about 12 Net Carbs give or take. Fitday comes up with 18g carbs and 6g dietary fiber, so carbs - fiber = Net. You can create your own account (if you haven't already) on Fitday at www.fitday.com. Mitzi enlightened me on the fact that you can set a Fiber "goal" which will calculate the fiber in your food entries so that you can subtract it from your carbs to find the Net Carbs.

The amounts of veggies weren't listed, so I'm hoping that you got in your full three. It's a common misconception that meat and protein are the big thing on Atkin's, when really veggies tend to be the real mainstay. Go through the "acceptable foods" list. I know that personally there were things on that list that I couldn't even identify! When you go to the grocery store, ask some questions and make sure that you vary your veggies...eventually you will LOVE them! Mitzi also recommended a food scale to me. I always feel uncertain about amounts. I think it will be really benficial to know exactly what you're eating!

Are you using non-cured, sugar free bacon? I've found that you can get two types, which include bacon from the supermarket butcher (plain non-cured). Or in a pinch you can you use the formed sugar free "breakfast strips"...mind you these are more processed and aren't the greatest.

Also, is your ranch dressing sugar-free? Don't forget to look at the nutritional information list AND the listed ingredients. Quite often the sugar is not listed on the information list but IS on the ingredients.

It's really important to realize that you CAN eat on Atkin's. You can enjoy your food and NOT feel guilty...and not feel like you're starving yourself!! As long as you do things moderately. Bingeing on foods legal or not, is never a good thing!

I also want to mention that there are tons of great recipes on this board and many other places (low carb recipe websites)! Once you are comfortable with the rules, you'll likely be able to get more creative! I know at first I thought of this WOE (way of eating) as just another diet. I was afraid that if I let myself be comfortable that I wasn't doing things right! So I did what I always did before and restricted myself to very plain things! I got bored very quickly. NOT GOOD! So I started to play with some recipes, my faves are Mock Danish, Crustless Quiche, Cheese Shell Taco's. You can find all of these in the recipes section. I don't usually have a whole lot of time on my hands so these are pretty quick to make or are microwaveable!

Good luck on your journey! It's going to be great!
