  • Newbie Menu Review

Just finished first week of induction and I wanted to run this past the experts here ~ I feel like I am doing something wrong!

(other than coffee, which is listed, the only other thing I have had to drink is water and always >100 oz a day)

thanks in advance for your help!

Em, the only thing I'd caution you about is the 26 or more ounces of coffee you are having per day, it can be a staller.

Do you absolutely weigh and measure your cream? If you don't, I would suggest you start doing so. It's a real eye opener.

Be careful with processed meats (bacon, sausage, pepperoni) The sodium and nitrates can sneak up on you and cause fluid retention.

I'd choose different "salad" vegetables than lettuce for my two cups. Jicama, cucumber, mushroom, sweet peppers, are all good choices with more fiber, more carbs (this is a GOOD THING), and more vitamins and nutrients.

coffee in the morning is half decaf ~ is that a staller, regardless?
I do measure the cream ~ 1 tbls each time.
I hear you about the meats ~ tho the bacon is nitrate-free & sugar-free. I think I might keep the bacon and drop the sausage snacks!
The "lettuce" entry for lunch & dinner includes a small amount of either celery or peppers or shrooms or cuke or something legal mixed in.
I have no idea what jicama is, LOL!

thx for your comments ~ you look fantastic!!

Decaf still has caffeine, and I found (for me) that it completely stalled me every time I added it into my diet. I suspect it was really the combination of coffee (yes, decaf) cream and artificial sweetner. I even started GAINING. However, you might be different, or maybe a slower weight loss in exchange for having the coffee/cream might be worth it to you (it wasn't to me). And, black coffee....ICK! Definitely not worth it (to me, anyway).

Yeah, keep the bacon and limit the other processed meats. You can still have it, but I wouldn't recommend it every day. Eat fresh meats instead--chicken, beef, pork, fish, shellfish, etc.

well, a week without the caffeine, and the WOE is working much better! Thanks, VR. I've also backed off on the processed meats, tho a couple little circles of pepperoni are SO satisfying, LOL.

I'm glad it helped you. I know sometimes the answer to our "problems" aren't what we always want to hear. I certainly didn't want to hear it and tried bargaining with coffee/caffeine for a year. I finally surrendered to it and things have been moving right along.

It's amazing what seemingly small things have such a big impact. Kudos to you for giving it up...lots of people never do and just can't figure out why they can't make the progress they want to.
