Hi! What do you think of my menu (second week of Induction):
7.30 a.m: 1 fried egg in butter and 3 pieces of bacon
12.30: steck cooked in virgin olive oil and butter (some herbs on top) with 70g of veggies fried in butter
7.30 p.m.: 100g of salade with pieces of bacon, two slices of tomato, 30g of cheese, 1 boiled egg and 4 olives
    snack: cheese (40-50g)
I don't seem to be losing as much weight as i would like... Do you think that it is because of my menu? Thanks for your help!

    Re: induction menu

Your menu looks fine to me, and seems to have about the right proportions of everything. There is quite a lot of bacon, but I don't think too much. If anything it seems like you may not be eating enough.

I know that sounds contradictory, that eating more might help, but if you let your calorie intake fall too far your body goes into starvation mode and tries to conserve its stores. I don't know what weight you are, or how active you are, so it's hard to say whether that has enough calories. You need to calculate your BMR and find out how many calories your body needs just to tick over.

I looked at the other thread and see you are losing slowly, but you don't say how much you need to lose, whether you are exercising, and whether you have been dieting prior to starting Atkins. All these things matter and will have an effect.

I lost quite fast in induction, but then I have a lot to lose and I had not been dieting at all in ages and I took up a fair bit of exercise. However this week I have lost barely 1lb, if even that. BUT, my clothes have become a little looser every day, so I am happy that the scales will eventually catch up. Having read lots of posts here I have seen how varied weight loss is in different individuals, but also how sticking with it works, no matter what the rate of loss.

      Re: induction menu

You're menu looks good basically, but Kate's right... you might not be eating enough. You want to avoid going into starvation mode which will stop you losing.
It's also true that everyone loses at a different rate... there are so many variables. I know of people here who lost nothing at all on induction, yet went on to reach goal quite happily.

Tell us a bit more about your goals, current/start weights, exercise, water consumption. These last two, very important to the Atkins plan.

Hang in there and I'm sure it'll all come together for you.

You know I am not really sure. I guess some where in my head I just throught it was better. I did look at the back lable and it said that the reg. cheese did have less carbs in it. Shoot I just bought two bags of it.

Oh well, I will try the normal stuff next time.

By the way, thanks for taking a look at the menu for me.

When you say bags did you mean the preshredded cheese? That stuff has corn starch in it so be careful (plus it tastes yucky). Be sure and buy the blocks and shredd it yourself. Also anything low or no fat has more carbs then the full fat version. Mainly because the have to add more stuff to it to make it taste decent. Just a side note here..... My dad had bought some fat free half and half. He said it was really good. I wondered how you can make fat free half and half I looked at the ingredients....Fat free milk and sugar.

No way! I had no idea about the corn starch! That could explain a lot. Is the sting cheese still okay?

Okay, since I cheated this weekend on induction does it mean that I have to start my 14 days all over again?

You are going to want to start over at day one. The reason is because you need your body to detox itself of all the bad sugars.
