  • Am I eating too much?

Hi everyone...I am on day three of my induction and I was wanting to know amd I eating too much? I am not sure about how much I should be eating and I have a lot of weight that needs to come off. Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Breakfast
    4 eggs scrambled with butter
    1 slice of smoked ham

    snack
    2 sticks of pork jerky

    Lunch
    1 c lettuce
    1/4 c ham cubes
    1/8 cup cheese
1 tbs low carb ranch dressing
    1 egg cubed
    2 chicken legs

    Snack
    2 sticks of beef jerky

    Dinner
    2 small hamburger patties
    2 oz swiss cheese
    1 pickle (dill)
    1 tbs mayo (regular)

carbs come to a total count of 11 grams, fat 164 grams, protein 162 grams. Percentages are carbs 2%, fat 68%, and protein 30%

Oh and I am also drinking at least 10 glasses of water a day.

Re: Am I eating too much?

The "eating too much" question can be answered with the following questions.

    1. Are you eating more then 3 to 4 ounces of cheese?

I'm not sure how many ounces 1/8 cup cup cheese is, but that added to your 2 ounces of mozerella seems fine.

    2. Are you eating more then the allow amounts of "special category" foods like olives, avocado and sour cream?

I don't see any of those listed so you are fine

    3. Are you eating more then 3 cups of vegetables (either 3 cups from the salad veggies list or 2 from the salad veggies list and one from the "other" list.)

Looks like you are eating too *few* veggies. I see only one cup salad and 1 pickle

    4. Are you eating only till you are satisified, not till you feel full and especially not till you feel stuffed?

Well, only you can answer that. At your current weight your food intake doesn't seem excessive. As long as you are only eating till you feel satisfied then the only big thing I'd really change is adding in more vegetables.

A couple minor things to look out for that may or may not be a problem:

Check the meat, especially the ham and jerky, for added sugars.

Pickles have a lot of sodium, might want to swap that for another vegetable if that is a problem.

Overall looks great. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Grant for your info. I made a list of veggies and am going to town tonight to get some so I can slide a few more into my diet.

I agree with above. Not enough veggies, and "too much" just means that you are eating until you are stuffed instead of satisfied. Some of my days look pretty similar to your menu though.

just a thought - watch that you dont get too much protein.. your protein percentage for induction shouldbe about 35 % . Too much protein and your body will turn it into glycogen ( sugar ) and process it as such.
Your percentages for induction should be 60% calories from fat , 35% calories from protein and 5% calories from carbs
