  • I figured out how to post my fitday

I'm in Extended Induction/1st rung of OWL, just started my 4th week with Atkins. I'm very slowly trying to take out a little fat as I add more veggies: I eat 5 cups of salad stuff and a cup of spagehtii squash which still only totals 20 grams of carbs, more than induction but not quite up too 1st rung of OWL. I stay away from cheese 'cause I think its a stall for me.

Breakfast is Mock French Toast (with half the Splenda in the recipe) with a little butter and 2 cups of salad

Snack 1 Hard Boiled Egg about 2 oz of pork chops (fried in olive oil)

Lunch 1 cup ground beef (with garlic and other safe seasons fried in olive oil) 3 cups of salad with 1 oz of cheese

Snack 3 oz pork chops (fried in olive oil)

Dinner 3 shrimp and a piece of fish fried in butter, with spagehtii squash in butter.

Snack 1 Flaxseed Muffin (with no splenda from the recipe) with a little butter

I'm thinking I need to eat the muffin earlier in the day to try and spread out my fat intake a little better. Maybe eat it with no butter to cut out a little fat as I start 1st rung of OWL? Same thing with the Mock French Toast, Squash and Fish Dinner, try to cut out some butter. (As olive oil is better for you than butter)

your menu looks fantastic to me. However, you are not doing extended induction. You are definitely doing rung 1 which is great! I wouldn't worry right now about lowering fat. You aren't high enough in the carbs yet. You still have to get to 5% carbohydrate.

Well, after a re-evaluation, I, personally, wouldn't fry my ground beef in olive oil. Ground beef has enough fat on it's own that it doesn't need added fat. Unless you have really, really lean ground beef.

I also wouldn't fry my pork chops in added fat. I usually grill them, but go ahead and eat the fat from the edges. Yum. The only protein sources that I ADD fat for frying is boneless, skinless chicken breast and seafood.

That will reduce your fat percentage a bit.

Thanks. I wasn't sure 'cause it was still induction level carbs, but more stuff.

I don't mind missing some of the oil, I just figured it was good for me.

      Thanks again

Yes, as Validrouge said, it looks as if you are well and truly on Rung 1 of OWL - well done

BTW if you didnt reach an average 20 net carbs on induction (and many of us dont if we use 3 cups of salad veggies) then your OWL rung one level of net carbs would be 5 more net carbs than your 'normal' induction level.

So if you were eating on average say 13 net carbs, your OWL rung one level would be 18 net carbs.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
