  • salad for lunch.....yikes

i hadn't prepared a lunch today for myself, so i went to the foodtown to get a salad.......i thought i was being good, but then reading over some information....maybe i waqsnt

    my salad consisted of:
    romaine lettuce
    green and red peppers
    green and black olives
    celery
    shredded cheddar cheese
    parmasean cheese
    tomatoes
    crabmeat
    some blue cheese dressing

and my afterthoughts are that the blue cheese dressing was bad. the crabmeat could have been some kind of immitation crabmeat and am i allowed to have green olives?

i still have so much to learn about the intricacies of this WOL but i am moving in the right direction......

now it's time for 8 more pushups.....this'll make 32 for the night

Not too bad, but the imitation crab is very high in carbs, about 4 carbs per ounce of it. According to USDA HealtheTech. 4 grams per 28 grams, that's 15% carbs by weight. Assuming maybe 4 oz in the salad, 16 carbs therefrom the Krab. rest of the stuff together, who knows, maybe another 5 or 10

But not bad, you'll do fine eating like this. Fact is, Doc chose the number 20 as "one size fits all", and fact is we're big guys and can venture up a bit. Main thing is to keep the ball rolling through the weekend!

Christopher, have you tried using Fitday? http://www.fitday.com/

You can track everything you eat, the % of carbs, calories, etc., plus it's free.

Right, fitday.com is a good place to track foods. You get a free accound that maintains a database of your foods.

It's layered on top of a nutritional database the USDA provides (HealtheTec), which they package with a little program for free too, you can get at http://www.ars.usda.gov/Services/docs.htm?docid=5720

The other quick way to "learn" what to do/eat/not eat, is to read the book.

Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition) is the one this board goes by. It was the last one written in its entirety by Dr A before his death, so hasn't had other people messing around with it.

Kudos to you on the pushups!
