  • I just want to be sure!

    Hi there - I am on day 3 of induction. So far, so good. Yesterday I had a headache that lasted most of the day, but walked and drank lots of water and napped. That helped tons. Today I feel good. I've been reading tons of posts and believe I am doing okay with the food, but would just like some confirmation!
    Here's what I had yesterday, for example:
    B: 2 eggs w/ 1 oz cheese cooked in a little oil, 4 slices lean jenny-o bacon
    coffee w/ 1 splenda and 1 T heavy cream
    L: tuna w/ mayo, 2 c spinach w/ 1 T caesar (no sugar), 1 oz cheesw
    D: pork chop cooked in oil, 1/2 c green beans, 10 little green olives, horseradish
    S: 1/2 c pumpkin, 1 oz cream cheese, 1 splenda, and cinnamon

    I drank all 64 oz of h20, had a multivitamin, and walked for 45 min (and jogged a little)

    Thanks for looking at my menu and giving it a critique!

    ~This is a high fat diet, so not sure why you're eating lean bacon?? you want fatty cuts!

    Is your coffee decaf?

    Spinach is the deabateable item here, as far as i'm concerned its a salad veggie but some will disagree as the book says its on the "other" list

    You ate 2 cups as though it was on the salad list, which is fine in my opinion.

    Overall i think your menu looks great, just lay off the lean foods and ensure the coffee is decaf!

      I'd echo Emma's words totally.

      Good work s&swtr!
      Btw... horseradish is a great "whooshie" (i.e. makes your weight whoosh down) ingredient for some. Nice to see, even though some say it's mostly water weight.

        Thanks Emma and Sally. The coffee was decaf! The bacon was lean b/c I am finishing up what's in the house. The spinach - I got the baby leaves that are sold in the lettuce aisle - I didn't remember that it wasn't technically a lettuce item!
        Today I ate romaine.
        Can I drink soda once in a while if it is diet and caffeine free?

          Don't worry about the spinach - like Emma I tend to treat it as a salad veg, it's a heck of a lot better for you than lettuce, which is basically just water.

          On the diet sodas. Best not during induction, the aspartamine makes a lot of people stall. After that whether you have one once in a while depends on how you react to it - and how long 'a while' is

          I used to drink gallons of diet coke a week, literally, until I started this, now I am strictly a water drinker, don't miss the coke at all and feel a lot better for it. It doesn't contribute anything useful, so for the most part try to give it a miss.

            Jules, please treat it as a salad item, unless you cook it - treat it like lettuce, its much better for you.

            I echo Kate on the diet soda, please dont bother, it will slow you down! I believe diet rite is an okay one as its sweetened with splenda, but still make sure you're drinking your water!
