    Re: Ugh! I'm hungry...

I would take a close look at that shake. Shakes always fill me up at first but make me hungrier through out the day. try a couple days with a good fatty breakfast and see if there is any change.

For something crispy as a snack, you can try fried bacon. If you fry it properly, it gets exactly like chips, just that it's legal and it has FAT! Only make sure you get bacon without sugar in it.

Fatty snacks keep hunger away between meals. However, I discovered that if I eat proper meals (e.g. omelet with salad in the morning, fish with cooked vegetables for lunch, chicken with salad and cheese dressing for dinner) I don't need these snacks. But until you get comfortable with this WOL, fatty snacks can make the difference between cheating and staying clean .

        Re: Ugh! I'm hungry...

I'm up another pound today. Its so horribly depressing, especially since I thought that I was doing good. I quit weighing myself for awhile there and I felt better mentally and emotionally. Now I'm back to weighing daily because when I weigh, my numbers go up and I'm starting to worry.

Mirya - I've been feeling that way a lot lately. What I do is melt half a tablespoon to a full tablespoon of butter depending on how bad the munchies are and mix it in with my cream cheese snack. The fat and sweetness from the butter seems to do the trick and then I'm okay for a good long while. Anytime I cheat, I always gain and have to work it off. It never falls off afterwards. I think when I cheat, what I eat is converted into slab of fat immediately.

Astro - Congrats on getting a great workout in! Exercise makes me hungrier too! Like you said though, I don't think it usually makes me as hungry as I have been. Luckily, I've never been big on any kind of soda. I was an orange juice, grapefruit juice, V8 Splash, and Snapple junkie. I also liked my mocha blasts, cappuccinos, and frappuccinos. There was no way around giving those up during induction. Now I just need to cut that one packet of splenda out and I wont be having that today.

ValidRouge - I agree! I'm working on it!!

quotidianlight - I'm trying to work it out so that I'll have one of Julirama's shakes after working out and then eating a fatty breakfast an hour later. I'm hoping that will curb all munchies because I usually waited about five hours after my shake to eat again. I'm gonna make those meals more frequent! Thanks for the input!

elbisivni - Those sound great! I rarely have sugar-free bacon on hand, but when I do, I'll give it a try! Thanks!

Tomorrows menu with what I have on hand right now:

Breakfast: 3 egg and one cheese omelette

Lunch: 1 cup of lettuce, half a cucumber sliced, with mayo/heavy cream/garlic powder/pepper dressing

Dinner: Previous chicken salad, except I've added an additional TBS of butter and an additional TBS of canola oil to pour over the salad after stir-frying the cajun chicken

My fitday adds this up to: 12carbs, 70g of protein, and 167g of fat

I think you should add a bit more carbs.

For example, I was on induction for about 3 weeks and I lost some pounds in the first week (water mostly) and then oscillated back and forth 1-3 lbs. But two weeks ago I moved to OWL and I have lost 5 lbs. The extra 5g of carbs coming from vegetables might help.

Are you only having lettuce and cucumber for lunch?! Aren't you hungry?!

I'll probably add more carbs when I go to the store next week. I was hoping the mayo and heavy cream dressing would add enough fat to that salad to fill me up. I guess I'll find out tomorrow!

Make sure when you make your tofu shake that you add heavy cream--another way to increase your fat %!! Like Joy said, the more fat you eat, the more fat you lose! What rung are you on? You can add ingredients to flavor the shake based on your position in OWL.

                  Re: Ugh! I'm hungry...

Thanks Julirama! I'm still on the veggies rung. I didn't see much of a point of moving up the rungs while in a stall/gain cycle. Seemed like it would defeat the purpose of ruling out food intolerances to me. I'm really looking forward to moving up those rungs though! I could use the variety. Hopefully these menu changes will fix the problem.
