  • Broke the addictions but still feel so hungry

What do you think of my menu?
I am sorry to bother you all. I hope you don't mind. I would love to help anyone if they need any advice but I am just guessing myself and not the brightest person in the world.

The first few days of induction I wasn't so hungry.
The 3rd day I had all the symptoms and felt terrible.
Today is the 5th day and I feel great and have so much energy. No major cravings. And even lost an inch around the waist.

The thing is I am very hungry like how I used to always feel on my high carb diet. Always at night I have felt starving.
So I feel like I just wanna eat and eat and eat(typical me!)
So I ate an extra chicken breast as a late night snack.
But I feel like I wanna eat another chicken breast? Is there a limit of how much protein I can eat that doesn't have any carbs?
Is there a max on the number of eggs per day? Maybe 3 is too many but suddenly I really wanted an egg. I thought I would hate eggs by now??
I really thought Atkins would make me feel full. Is it just because I am in induction and still adjusting?

I am a thin, short woman(5 foot 3 inches) just trying to lose the cellulite and little bulges of fat on my upper arms, love handles and saddlebags. Not the end of the world if I don't, but I don't feel comfortable in a tank top or bathing suit and would like to wear them. It sounds really silly but I would love to be feel more comfortable.
I don't think it should be too hard since I am starting out so close to my goal. Just want to lose a few inches.
Before starting Atkins I used to eat 2 pieces of toast and peanut butter and cereal for breakfast and then a korean type lunch and dinner at my school that seemed to be somewhat healthy, not much meat though(they claimed to be about 600 calories per meal). Also, had yogurt and a granola bar between meals. Which is not so terrible.
But on top of that at night I usually ate about 6 cookies, a chocolate bar and sometimes an apple danish or a bag of chips. For about a year.
Everynight I binged. After eating all the junk at night I felt sick to my stomach and went to bed. I felt so guilty laying in bed but my last thought was always why does it matter if I am thin and not gaining any weight. So even if I don't lose the inches I think Atkins would be a lot healthier. To get me off my addictions. I really feel I am off my addictions in just 5 days! I never thought it would be possible.
I remember saying to myself ...I could just live off peanut butter and toast and chocolate chip cookies and milk for the rest of my life and what would it matter because I am not gaining any weight.

Anyways, this was todays menu. Can you tell me can I eat more? Really hungry here. Also, anything I am doing wrong. Just keep in mind there are not a whole lot of options where I am living in Korea. For example can only find mozerralla grated cheese and cheese slices and can't get steak here or ground beef. I found a site in Korea to order the turkey patties.

    Today's Menu

    breakfast
2 eggs with mozerella cheese on top
a cup of low carb veggies
    some olive oil

    Lunch
turkey patty with mozerella cheese on top
salad with low carb veggies(total 1 cup)
some olive oil and some low carb thousand Island dressing

    Dinner
    chicken breast(fresh)mozerella cheese on top
salad with low carb veggies(total 1 cup)
some olive oil and some low carb thousand Island dressing

    Snack 1
    hard boiled egg

    Snack 2
    another chicken breast
    some olive oil

3 liters of water throughout the day

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

Your menu looks pretty good to me but if there is something wrong with it I am sure someone will point it out. Do check the turkey burger ingredients and make sure it is all legal.

The other thing that comes to mind is since you used to binge every night that it may very well just be your thinking it is eating time. So even though you feel that you have broken your addictions it may take your body a bit of time to catch up. I heard it takes like a month to establish a habit. And I am sure it takes more than 5 days to break one. Something you can do is to save your salad for the evening. Why the salad you ask??? Because it is crunchy and has some fat in it and takes a little bit of time to eat. It will fool your body into thinking you are eating lots.

I would guess also that your body is asking you if you want to fed it now or should it take some of the fat storage. Hang in there!!! Also because you are thin be prepared that your weight loss may not be as large as some but will make just as much difference in your body. Do measure...as lots of times it shows up there and not always on the scale.

Re: Broke the addictions but still feel so hungry

If you are hungry on induction, you can eat. This is the time you break the cycle. I was hungry through induction and I ate plenty. Now, I struggle to get enough calories because I just am not hungry. I was eating the other day and I remembered to do something and I just got up and did it and completely forgot about the rest of my food. I am more now in the mentality of "dang, I have to eat again" than what I used to be like, thinking of food almost every moment. What you are going through might be more of a mental thing, especially if you do feel hungry, eat a chicken breast and really crave more. Induction is simple, it's just not always easy. Hang in there.

To answer your question on the ratios though (this is what I was told - correct if wrong anyone) it is best to shoot for about 65% fat, 30% protien, and 5% carbs. You asked about eggs, I've seen people eat a dozen a day on induction to satisfy their hunger in the beginning. I wouldn't recommend (mainly because I just don't think I could eat a dozen eggs) but it but I have seen it.

Oh, I wanted to add: I would put everything you have eaten into fitday.com to see what kind of numbers you are getting.

          To Elise,
Thanks for your thoughts. The turkey burger package says they are all natural and 2 grams of carbs..they are from America.
Yeah, a month to break an addictions sounds more like it...
Eating the salad at night is a good idea.
Yeah, I am not in a big hurry about losing the extra inches, but I would be so happy if it happened before moving to Canada in 6 months.
I have had those few extra inches and cellulite for a long time. I remember in grade 9 or ten noticing them. I have always said it's never going to happen, but discovering Atkins makes me have hope.
But like I said before I can definately live with my body as it is. I have been really lucky so far, some people starve themselves to be my size. I just figure I have a lot of time on my hands for the next six months so why not try to eat more healthy and possibly shape my body so I can feel comfortable wearing anything.
Yeah, I am just measuring but maybe later I will use a scale when I notice a big change. At which point I plan to lift weights to gain some muscle weight.

I was wondering if on Atkins(I haven't ordered the book yet..sorry)..counting calories is important?? I got the carb counting down. Today, I ate some extra no carb protein and it made such a difference. I am not starving tonight(like usually). Would you suggest I continue to eat aproximately 3/4 of a meal more??

          To Shari,
I found the low carb thousand Island dressing in the store in my apartment. It's a tiny store that doesn't have a whole lot but I was excited to find it. It's Korean.
I actually found bacon today!! Had to walk aways but I was excited. I know it's not the healthiest choice but while I am in Korea I am need any variety I can get. I'm not going to eat it often. When I am in Canada I can choose the healthier choices. And I found some artificial sweetner for my mock danishes!! Also, not the healthiest.

            Dear Porcelain,
            Thanks again for your reply.
Oh, I should have read this before I asked about counting calories.
I am going to eat then!! Good news.
That is even better news that now you struggle to get enough calories. That blows my mind that a diet could do that..
Yeah, I am used to thinking of food all the time.
At this point, Induction seems to be something I can actually do.
            A dozen eggs..interesting..
Thanks for the ratio. Good to know.
            Fit day..another good idea.
Thanks so much for your ideas!
            Good luck with swimming!!
