  • Can i use corn oil?

I restarted atkins on 14th January of this year and have managed to keep to the straight and narrow pretty much. I have also incorporated a good exercise regimen of 5 to 6 days per week (cardio and weights) for an average of one and a half hours.
However i have noticed that my weight loss is significantly slower than the last time when i was averaging 8 - 10 pounds a month. I appear to running into frequent stalls. I started off at 102kg (224.4 LBS) in mid January. By mid Feb i was down to 96kgs (211.20 lbs) and by the end of March i had only come down to 95 kgs (209 lbs).
I have decided to re - evaluate what am doing to see if perhaps i may have gone off course.
First off i noticed that i have been using corn oil and was not sure if this could be a deal breaker. Any light on this shall be appreciated.

    Thanks

Re: Can i use corn oil?

    Hello,
Dr. Atkins mentions corn oil on page 127 DANDR. He doesn't say not to use it. Only to not cook polyunsaturated oils,(corn, soybean, sunflower) at high temperatures or allow to brown or smoke.
Best oil to use are olive, all other vegetable oils are allowed as in canola, walnut, soybean, grapeseed, sesame, sunflower, safflower oils, especially if they are labled "cold-pressed" or "expeller-pressed"
    Butter, of course is allowed.
