  • check my menu please.....

    I started March 31st and I've lost 8 pounds but it seems to be slow going. I'm sure it's because of all the yo-yo dieting in recent years. I just want to double check my menu to rule out anything there.

    B: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 sausage patties, coffee w/half&half
    S: string cheese
    L: hamburger patty w/cheese, salad w/cheese, bacon bits, 2 tbls. ranch
    S: sugar free jello
    D: meat (yesterday was a turkey filet wrapped in bacon), veggie (yesterday was broccoli w/velveeta)
    S: pepperoni w/ mozzarella, sugar free popsicle

    What do you think???? Please be honest with me, I really want to lose weight!!

    Forgot to add.... atleast 60 oz water and walked 15 minutes outside.

      Mary just some suggestions
      Check the sausage many have fillers and sugar
      You should use heavy cream not 1/2 & 1/2
      Check and see what sweetner is in your jelllo and pop splenda is the sweetner of choice and not a known staller like many of the others.
      I would try giving up the sweets for 2 weeks.

        Thanks Lauren!

        I will check the sausage when I get home but I've always used that brand in the past, so I'm assuming I must have checked at one point... I'll double check.

        I missed the cream thing.. thanks!

        I will also check the jello & popsicles when I get home.

        Is the recommendation to give up sweets for 2 weeks to control cravings? If so, I have absolutely no cravings, I'm past that. I'm actually not very hungry at all.

          Hi Mary
          I have a feeling that velveeta is a processed 'cheese food' type of product, not plain aged cheese, so would not really be Atkins-friendly. And remember to stick to the 3-4 ounces of cheese rule too

          Have you started up the OWL ladder yet? some members experienced a slowdown of weightloss when staying on induction for an extended period of time which improved once they started to add more carbs (in the order as suggested by Dr A)
          Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

              Here is my revised menu:

              B: 1 egg, 2 whites, 1 sausage, coffee w/cream
              S: cheese stick
              L: salad with chicken w/hot sauce, radish, mozzeralla, ranch
              S: cheese stick
              D: taco chicken salad w/ranch

              Totals: 9 carbs, 1078 calories
              fat 68%, carbs 3%, Protein 29%

              What do you think? Is this better???

                I think you may need to add in more green veg instead of just sald veg. It is good for you to eat as close to the 20 carbs allowed for the day. Eating less carbs does not mean more weight off. Also, if you really want to lose weight, you may want to go out and purchase Dr. Atkins 2002 edition of Diet Revelotion, if you have not already done so. Read it and keep it close at hand all the time. It explains so much and gives you the rungs that you will follow after induction. Watch for those hidden sugars in the packaged foods, ie- sausage, creamer, cheese, & sauces. Congrats on those 8 lbs.

                  That was just a sample menu for today. I typically have a salad for lunch and then some type of meat & veggie for dinner. Is that what you mean? or is there something else that I'm missing?
