  • My Menu from Day 1

It's been six years since I first went on the Atkins diet and I really had a hard time remembering "the rules". I did brush up a bit on the Atkins website however, I'm going to have to more extensively research what I can eat as my mind went blank at the grocery store.

Breakfast ~ 1 Hard Boiled egg & 1 string cheese

Snack ~ Cucumber slices with a carb free oil & vinegar dressing

Lunch ~ 2 tuna patties (just egg & lemon added) over lettuce & sprinkled with parm

Snack ~ 5 Jumbo blue cheese stuffed Olives

Dinner ~ Grilled chicken "taco salad" (chicken, lettuce, cheese, taco sauce, and a little sour cream)

I also had 2 candies at the end of the day that contained "sugar alcohols". I had read on the Atkins website that most were considered "okay" but after reading on here that they slowed weight loss for some people, I think I'm going to pass on them until after induction at least.

I'm no expert, I'm a retread also just returning... For my limited expertise, your food looks good. The olives sound good but might be a bit much with all that cheese for just starting out. I got this from the Atkins website

    "Special Category Foods
To add variety, each day you can also eat 10 to 20 olives, half a small avocado, an ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods."

Just an observation. Good luck to you. I'll be around Also good choice on not doing the sf candy thing. From what I've read they aren't worth it.

AS DNNC said, your menu choices look 'legal' as long as you are sticking to the quantities allowed in DANDR.

The Atkins website nowadays has 'updated' it's thinking and their induction menus include foods that are NOT on the allowed list - in particular their bars, which include non-induction ingredients no matter what the packet info says, so you would be better off reading DANDR to make sure you are not following the wrong rules

We have a list of the induction rules and foods on our FAQ forum, as well as a wallet sized induction list that you can print out and have with you when you go shopping or order food.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
