  • Menu for day one of induction... how did I do?

Hi everyone I am very very new to this but trying hard to get it right! I had a little slip up with some balsamic vinegar today, eeek!

Basically I want to know if I am eating too much? I didn't feel hungry at all and came in under 20 grams of carbs so did I do ok? I know I went over on my veggies by about a cup today and will cut those some tomorrow... measuring veggies proves trickier than I expected!

Breakfast - 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 cups coffee w/half and half and splenda (5.2 carbs)

Snack - 1 oz sharp cheddar cheese (1 carb)

Lunch - 3 oz can of tuna in water, 1 1/2 cups salad greens with 1/4 cup of spinach, 1/4 cup bell pepper, 1/2 cup cucumber, 1 tbsp of blue cheese, 1 tbsp of bacon and olive oil/balsamic vinegar dressing (that was a mistake that wont happen again) (7 carbs, dressing got me off track)

Snack - 2 slices canadian bacon and 1 string cheese (1 carb)

Dinner - 8 oz pork chop cooked in olive oil, 3/4 cup salad, 3 grape tomatoes, Olive oil/rice vinegar dressing and 3 Brussels sprouts w/butter (4 carbs)

My water intake has exceeded the 8, 8 oz glasses a day so I think I am good there.

Carb Count - 18 carbs total for the day

You are not eating too much. It looks good-healthy menu. As you said - probably need to measure those vegs and make sure you only eat one cup from "the other veggie" list. Watch the cheese as well - it is easy to overdo it.

Your menu looks fine. Except I would get rid of the half and half and use cream instead. Half & Half has milk in it, which has sugar in it. And I wouldn't sweat too much about going over your veggies occassionally.

Thank you both for your input! I will definitely move from the half and half to heavy cream, I guess I thought I was saving myself calories with that choice but I didn't think about the sugar. I did much better on my menu yesterday because I cut my veggies small and measured them carefully. I am really trying to get enough variety in my diet so that I don't get totally bored with it
        Thanks again ladies!
