  • Where can I get some more carbs?

    Breakfast:
    One hard boiled egg (1/2 carb)
    Black coffee (1 carb)

    Mid morning snack:
    2 heat and eat sausage patties (1 carb)
    1 stick of cheese (1 carb)

    Lunch:
    Chicken salad-canned chicken and mayo (o carbs)

    Afternoon snack:
    Cream Cheese muffin (2 carbs)

    Suppper:
    2 hamburger patties with cheese, mayo, and horseradish(1 carb)
    Three broccoli spears (3 carbs)
    Salad with caesar dressing (1 carb)

    Later:
    Cream cheese muffin (2 carbs)
    Pork Rinds plain :-( I've already used my cheese allotment for the day. (0 carbs)


    12 1/2 carbs. Hmmm. That doesn't sound good, especially since I'm at my veggies allotment and cheese allotment...
    Gallon of water
    Two cups of hot, unsweetened green tea
    I walked for fifteen minutes until the bottom fell off of my shoe...

    take your lunch of chicken and pile it onto a tossed salad--up to 2 cups of salad veggie's a day is needed for the carbs and fiber...

    i do it with my Hamburger patty's! it's like having a loaded Double cheese burger with all the fixin's!

      Well, I had my veggie limit with the supper salad and the broccoli. Although, you did make me eyeball that again and realize that I meant three carbs for the salad and I only wrote down one.

      Thanks, I'll go change that now.

      And I love to have my main dish over salad.

        Try having more veggies that have more carbs, Jicama is a great veggie that is great for upping the fiber and the carb count. I like pickles as well, great snack food.

          Thanks, maybe I didn't mention that I'm on Induction so I'm limited to three cups of veggies a day and I've been doing 2 cups of salad plus 1 cup of other.

            Ceasar salad is just lettuce and cheese right?
            tossed salad will have the veggie's you need and you can add hard boiled egg to it or bacon...or Both!

                When I say Caesar, I mean Caesar dressing. I just put it on romaine lettuce. It isn't like a real Casear salad.

                  I understood you are on Induction but there are SOOOO many other veggies allowed on the 2 cups list that aren't lettuce or salad veggies, Jicama is one of them!

                  Here's a list of veggies you are allowed:

                  2 Cups of the following
                  alfalfa sprouts
                  daikon
                  mushrooms
                  arugula
                  endive
                  parsley
                  bok choy
                  escarole
                  peppers
                  celery
                  fennel
                  radicchio
                  chicory
                  jicama
                  radishes
                  chives
                  lettuce
                  romaine lettuce
                  cucumber
                  moche
                  sorrel

                  1 Cup of the following
                  artichoke
                  celery root
                  pumpkin
                  artichoke hearts
                  rhubarb
                  asparagus
                  chard
                  sauerkraut
                  bamboo shoots
                  collard greens
                  scallions
                  dandelion
                  snow peas
                  bean sprouts
                  dandelion greens
                  spaghetti squash
                  beet greens
                  eggplant
                  spinach
                  broccoli
                  hearts of palm
                  string or wax beans
                  broccoli rabe
                  kale
                  summer squash
                  brussels
                  kohlrabi
                  tomato
                  bean sprouts
                  leeks
                  turnips
                  cabbage
                  okra
                  water chestnuts
                  cauliflower
                  onion
                  zucchini

                  So as you can see your options are endless. If you try more than just the leafy veggies you will be able to get more carb counts in. My favorite carb uppers are Green Peppers and Jicama. I totally know what you're going through cause I was having the same issue but then I read the book and realized I was allowed so much more than just salad/leafy veggies! Good luck!

                    I'm sorry for not making myself clear. The menu that I posted was for yesterday and I only had 16 1/2 grams of carbs and I was trying to get to 20.

                    At that point I had already had my vegetable limit. I do know the acceptable foods and I do understand that lettuce is not the only salad food.

                    Thanks for sending the list, though. Today is a new day!

                      I think what Irishmom was trying to suggest was that you could get more veg carbs by choosing other veg than just lettuce.

                      I often have a cup's worth of peppers mixed with a cup of lettuce - raw red peppers have about 6.5 net carbs, so making a two cup salad of about 7 net carbs.
                      If you had say a cup of onions (raw, 1 cup, chopped = about 11 net carbs) fried in butter as your choice of 'other veg' with a different meal that would make a total of 18 net carbs from 3 cups of veg.

                      Choosing just lettuce really 'cheats' you of the net carbs you could be eating by choosing other veg from the list.

                      If you really love lettuce and dont think a salad is a salad without it then move to the first rung of OWL after your 14 days induction and add up to 5 net carbs of them (about 13 cups I think)!!

                          It was funny...when I came trotting in the house and my husband said, "What the he** happened to your shoe???"

                          I didn't get new shoes yet. I got Superglue.

                          We're moving to North Georgia Wednesday and there is a Nike outlet store down the road so I'm waiting for that for new shoes...
